Anyone else see a problem with a stat that claims you are playing tougher minutes if you are matched up against Wade Redden than Kimmo Timmonen.
How about facing Tom Poti being tougher minutes than playing against Chris Pronger.
How about facing Mark Fistric being tougher minutes than playing against Andrei Markov
And its not just defencemen.
Playing against Tyler Kennedy is tougher minutes than playing against Anze Kopitar.
Playing against Torrey Mitchell is tougher minutes than facing Chris Stewart.
Heck it even goes for players on their own team...
Playing against Matt Cooke means tougher minutes than playing Sidney Crosby.
Playing against Evgeni Malkin means you faced the 29th best player on the Penguins.... talk about getting super soft minutes.....
We all know +/- was a worthless stat to begin with... so any extrapolations that are entirely based on +/- are gonna be worthless too.
Next time DSF claims Smid was playing "soft minutes" because of his Qual Comp.... you guys should all call BULLSHIT on the stat.
Next time a blogger quotes QUALCOMP and QUALTEAM to prove something... call "BULLSHIT"
Like many of its brethern at behindthenet.... this stat isn't worth the internet space it takes up.
