I always preferred Krang.
Happy to see that iconic Canadian television sidekick personality, and bass player, Orrin Isaacs landed on his feet after the abrupt cancellation of Canadian Television's late night ratings juggernaut Open Michael with Michael Bullard.
I think Hackland had ruled that the motion for Ford to pay back the funds was remedial.
In summary: Ford did break the code of conduct by using his letterheads etc. Ford did not violate the MCIA when he voted at the meeting, because the meeting was unlawful. Ruby argued that at the time, everyone thought the meeting was lawful. The divisional court judges didn't buy it.
Now that I've calmed down, I'm actually not sure what Ruby plans to bring to the Supreme Court. Before this ruling councillors could already have relationships with lobbyists via arms-length entities. Ford's mistake was using his letterhead.
I'm liking this nullity idea. If council is voting on something they shouldn't be voting on then you're allowed to break the law to attempt to win the vote because your actions don't exist.
I bet Ford is now wishing he'd brought a machine gun to the meeting and did some culling of council.
Ford is unstoppable right now. The left / downtown needs to face that fact and focus on finding the right candidate for the next election.
All of the roadblocks they are trying to throw up are not going to help them win back public opinion in the burbs.
I've only lived here for 15 months and I understand why Ford is popular. The entire city government is completely dysfunctional. If you don't trust or respect a single one of your politicians, you may as well vote for the guy who is promising to spend the least amount of your money.
Ford of course is partly to blame for that dysfunction, but he knows how to capitalize on it.
If I could, I'd throw every single one of them out and reboot the whole thing.
*looks at the Toronto situation from Montreal*
Ford knows how to get the people who might support him to vote for him. A lot of his opponents know how to get the people who oppose him to dislike him.
The lobbyist donation thing is hilarious though. Take that you bike riding pinkos!
Toronto politics are a fucking nightmare. There is a gap of about 100 light years between the mong Ford brothers (in addition to Minnan-Wong and Mammoliti) and their left-leaning, meathead counterparts - McConnell and Vaughan.
In a perfect world centrist candidates would sweep all this rubbish off Council - Unfortunately I think most of my fellow mega-city dwellers are fucking morons who'll keep voting these cocksuckers into office.
Olivia Chow is considering a run for mayor. That ought to be the end of Ford.
Is he dead?
alive and groping
love the sweat stain on the front of the shirt too. very classy.
