Mike Gillis reached out to George McPhee today, said wasn't his intention to create Luongo distraction in DC. McPhee appreciated the call.

Botchford might be the most connected media person to the front office right now. I believe it.
I agree with the stuff on booth and Kassian, they've both been playing real hard
Yes. It was mostly in response to Damien Cox's tweets that were along the lines of Gillis could have had Kadri, Bozak and a pick, but got greedy, doesn't he look stupid? Which is obviously a huge misrepresentation of what happened, since Toronto never offered that package to the Canucks, and Luongo wouldn't waive for TO at the draft. Cox is probably the least connected media person in the country.
Cox is a retard. I can't remember if it was him or Simmons (some Toronto hack) but I remember a while back when Flinch got some pretty hilarious messages from them on twitter.
Also read this yesterday about Cox and how much leeway he's given to say stupid shit: http://blogs.thescore.com/nhl/2013/0...l-credibility/
Sportsnet is great at collecting all the shittiest, least credible journalists out there.
Yeah. Like who is gonna take Doug McLean seriously?
Valk is still the worst. I hear him the most because if I don't TTSO during the game I'll leave the TV on for awhile and hear him chattering with Don Taylor after the game. God, not only is he stupid but he has an almost impossibly poor grasp of the English language. Don Cherry and Gregg Zaun (another Sportsnet guy...baseball,) butcher the language less than Valk, Donny.
It's a wonder why TSN still hires Craig Button.
Brian Lawton is almost worse than McLean. It's really tough to pick a winner between them.
I learned that Wilfred Brimley coaches the Sens now.
How come the Devils haven't traded for Luongo yet? They are starting Johan Hedberg for Pete sake. Who even knew that guy was still around? I wonder how many times he's coughed up the puck behind the net in Jersey.
NJ still has Brodeur for another year. I also don't see Lamoriello meeting Gillis' asking price.
If Gillis is still being that structured in his asking price, I can see why it hasn't gotten done. You need a team who needs a #1 goalie, wants Luongo and is ok with the contract, and that Luongo will waive to go to, AND has all the assets. Too many working parts.
If he can get something like a grade A prospect straight up, he should go for it. It's not like he has only one chance to deal. They can get C depth at the trade deadline for draft picks, like they always do, or make a lateral move with a roster player like Raymond.
I have defended Gillis and I have been imoressed with his patience, but at this point I agree. We know it can't carry on next season, so it's going to happen now or the off season. I don't think waiting for the off season is going to improve our return. I doubt getting lou to waive is much of an obstacle at this point, unless it's like Edmonton or something. Find a team that is in the playoffs hunt but needs a goalie and take what you can get.
Yeah, that's the problem with demanding a C at this stage. Not many playoff teams are going to want to subtract from one of the most important positions, even if it does improve goaltending. At the deadline the gap may be wider and more teams may accept that they are selling.
