I love how he has the guys playing. Is it because we as a fanbase have sat through the end of the Hitchcock era and the entire Arniel era minus the first month? Are we overly impressed by a bad team because of this?

The biggest thing hurting Richards is the fact that he's just not Jarmo and more importantly Davidson's guy. We don't know where he stands with them.

but really Dingus, am I wrong on Wiz?

It caught me by surprise. Someone at the office mentioned Wednesday they'd heard a rumor - I had not heard anything. Got home and googled a bit, and saw that even the boys from the local rag had been discussing it - I must have been out of the loop for a few days.

One of Umberger or Prospal to the Pens, do make sense however. Hope they are explored.
Me too - I'd like to see what Keko and Davidson can do with a boatload of picks in a deep draft.

I agree with what some of the people over there are saying. This is a good year to be a bad team at the deadline. I don't see more than 3-4 teams being sellers this year.
This is why I can see someone making a run at a bad contract like Wisniewski's - so many buyers, too few sellers.

    BUT

He's been exactly what we wanted him to be ever since he signed with the CBJ. He proved his split year with NYI and MTL was not a one year wonder. He's a serious threat on the PP, his slap shot is leagues above anybody else on the team, he's got toughness they desperately needed when they signed him, and he's got the temperament that the locker room needs going forward with the whole culture change they got going on with the WORK HARD EVERY DAMN NIGHT theme we got going on right now.

Overpaid? Yes, of course. He was a FA. Is he what we wanted and hoped? Absolutely.
    I'm with you on Wisniewski.

I'm just assuming Davidson and Keko are looking to strike while expectations from the fan base are low. Trading anything of value for picks and prospects, to do the ground-up rebuild. I like Wiz too, for all the reasons you give. But I think he's going to be a targeted commodity at a deadline with too few sellers.

Hate to see Dorsett go down. This team is suddenly fun to watch again, and Dorsett's attitude is a big part of the chemistry IMO.

Wouldn't say you are. I didn't mean to give the impression that I wanted him gone.

Though I do think that if Jones were to end up a Jacket, you move one of him or Johnson for salary relief/to open up a spot. They'd be extremely redundant on a blueline that's looking for spots. I think you'll see them move one of the defensemen at the deadline. Definitely by the summer.

We're only 6 points out of the playoffs. Total pipe dream or just extremely unlikely?

Pipe dream to the Nth degree. They were realistically eliminated weeks ago.

By the time JONES is ready to be the player he is destined to be by scouts and HFBoarders who have never seen him play, JJ and Wiz will be looking for their next deals. At least that's how I feel.

If Carter lived up to what we wanted and hoped like Wiz, the Blue Jackets would be a 5 seed right now and Nash would still be wearing the Union Blue.

Bizarro CBJ ... Wings made to pay for each mistake. Jackets were all over them. Calvert and Atkinson together on a line made the Wings look old and a step slow.

Mason or Bobrovsky? Who starts today? I'd think you have to stay with BOB. But does sitting Mason in the second game of a back-to-back screw with what confidence he's gained? He's looked good.

Bobrovsky. Always ride the hot hand.

Maetzold's radio show just confirmed it ... good deal.

Also described the team as a "scrappy bunch". Good stuff!

Lets see some more of that attitude from yesterday - hustling and hounding, first to the puck.

Was feeling all high and might about the 5 game win streak and was wondering if I could mention Blue Jackets and playoffs in a serious sentence.

Then I saw we'd have to finish 14-6-2 to make the playoffs. With 12 of the final 17 on the road. That was kind of a downer.

What in the hell is going on at beautiful downtown Nationwide Arena?

    Buyers? Sellers?

Still wouldn't mind seeing the CBJ trade a couple of the vets for additional picks, or a prospect. But how can you sell now?

Assuming this team can play like .667 till the deadline, we're minor buyers.

Think like Ryan Jones for a 3rd round draft pick. Nothing earth shattering.

Not sure we were ever going to be big sellers. The only guy that would for sure end up getting moved if we bottomed out is Letestu. Doubt Umberger/Tyutin or anybody gets moved till the summer.

Sharks lose - CBJ win tonight and they're in the eight spot, all alone. Would be nice to couple that with an Edmonton win over the Blues ...

In spite of all logical thought, I'm dangerously close to believing again.

Yeah ... was thinking something like the Loktionov deal is exactly what we might see - a prospect F with decent potential and crowded out of a lineup spot/out of favor with his current team, for a lower pick.

    Boll's out now, too?

Dorsett, Dubinsky, Foligno, Boll - I'm missing someone.

Feels strange to catch yourself looking at the out-of-town scores ... Ducks over Dallas and Hawks over the Preds. But Edmonton is whipping up on Calgary and the Blues are up two mid-third against Minny - still with two games in hand, too.

    Curse of Hitchcock.

Letestu at 1.25 mil a year?

Jesus that's cheap. That's only a quarter million more than Boll.

Sure is - especially with everything he can do.
