Xenon Gas?????

Americans don't take photos with their ipads. Literally never seen anyone do that. It's always foreigners.

They did at all the Canadian tourist attractions I went to last year. The foreigners did too, but you could tell the Americans apart because they did it fatter.

If MSL did indeed request a trade from his NHL team due to the Olympics..that has to effect the NHLs decision to go again, no?

It should only have an effect on the NHL teams decision to allow their execs/coaches to take part.

@BroadStBull 3m
Marty St. Louis has requested a trade from the #Lightning, Newsday confirmed.

Not sure if the context is he still wants to be traded..or he previously asked.

@LavoieRenaud 2m
John Tavares salary will be paid by IOC insurance during his absence.

Just learned they can do that. A sign of good faith perhaps or did they always have it set up that way?

Players salaries are almost always covered by insurance when they're hurt long term. The only difference here is because he was playing at the Olympics, it goes on their insurance policy instead of the team's insurance policy.

I don't really know. It seems unlikely that the Olympics would pay the insurance to cover camps before the games, so maybe HC just has to insure that part?

For those wondering about NHL's long-term commitment to Olympics, candidates for 2022 Games are Poland, Norway, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, China.

My money is on Ukraineuropussia.

the NHL basically has to climb above basketball, soccer, golf, and baseball in china. not an easy task...unless the games were held somewhere further north.

from the internet

Despite almost taking down Canada at #Sochi2014, Team Latvia may end up having their efforts wiped out of the #Olympics record books. A second Latvian player is suspected of testing positive for a banned substance, which if proven would disqualify Latvia from the Games, nixing their eighth place finish and the resulting boost in the world rankings. Last week, Latvian player Vitalijs Pavlovs was found to have methylhexaneamine in his system but under IOC rules, teams aren’t punished unless more than one player commits an anti-doping rule violation.

Lol this would have been classic had a doped up Latvia knock Canada out in the quarters, then got disqualified. The Canadian media would've had a field day of outrage.

As expected, Zinetula Bilyaletdinov is out as Russia's national team coach. He paid the price for failure in Sochi.
