Jester not sure if you've kept up with the series but you had recommended One Second After a while back by William R. Forstchen. I'm currently listening to the audiobook for the third book in the series, The Final Day. First two books were great, this one is a lot slower...

Two episodes into the new Twin Peaks series. So far so good, really enjoying so far.

And speaking of Showtime, been debating going back and catching up on Homeland, is it worth watching still? I stopped after the 3rd season or so, when they hanged the one guy.

I managed to get a Nintendo Switch. Found one when I randomly walked into Target on Saturday morning, and they had two still in stock. Traded in the Wii U, a bunch of games for it, and I had a bunch of DS games from my brother in law that he didn't want anymore. Trade in netted me $376 trade in at Gamestop after promos and such. Bought the big 3 games for the Switch right now: Zelda (which I had for Wii U and now have to restart on Switch...worth it), Splatoon 2, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Also got a Pro Controller and Travel Case so I have it when I go on work travel.

Love the system, it'll take a bit for some more games to come up, but the system itself is awesome. Glad I got it. And I still have $120 in credit.

I've had one since launch and I love it. Zelda is a near perfect game and the versatility of system is awesome. Price tag is high and library is small, but Mario Odyssey is coming in October. Sonic Mania just came out and is a great throwback if you liked retro Sonic games on genesis.

What's your friend code? I have Splatoon and MK8 too.

The impact
The aftershave
The European ciggarettes

The taxi
The alcohol
That lingers on your breath

The lipstick
The street lamp
The woolen overcoat

The front desk
You tell yourself
It isn't over yet

Second best, oh, second best
I can learn to live with this
Plus, I really need a rest
After all, what's wrong with second best
What's wrong with second best

The motel
The distances
Cave into kisses, cold and wet

Familiar exchanges
Like needle pulling thread

The empty movements that once were so inspired
Desperate attempts to fan the flame without the fire

The matress creaks beneath
The symphony of misery and cum
Still, we lie jerking back and forth
And blurring into one

Second best, oh, second best
I can learn to live with this
Plus, I relaly need a rest
After all, what's wrong with second best
What's wrong with second best

I am not sure how many of you guys will be interested in this, but I am going to write about this anyway, and I am going to make a bit of a larger explanation for the uninitiated.

One of the most popular video games currently on the market is Overwatch, a fast-paced first person shooter that is played in 6v6 games and features a variety of different characters that have different skills and roles in a team. Overwatch released in May 2016 and quickly received a following big enough for competitive eSports being organized around it. Blizzard Entertainment who developed Overwatch has decided to create an actual eSports league organized similar to other american sports leagues around the game (e.g. the NHL). Overwatch League begins regular season play in January 2018. For now all games will be played in Los Angeles but Blizzard hopes to introduce actual home and away games should the league be successful.

So why do I bring this up here. eSports are usually quite international affairs outside of specific events are just played over the internet. As said above however the league is organized more along the lines of american professional leagues, and the naming convention for the teams is "City Nicknames". While this has less implication for who the players are, the reason for this is because there is a variety of ownership groups behind the teams. There is also a Philadelphia team called "Philadelphia Fusion" and it is owned by Comcast Spectacor. As you can guess from their logo, they kind of took another team in their portfolio as example of chosing a color scheme:

Image

Other teams are also owned by familiar names in the sports and entertainment business. Kraft Group who own the New England Patriots are fielding a team called Boston Uprising, while Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, owners of the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, LA Rams and Arsenal F.C., will add an Overwatch team called Los Angeles Gladiators. Besides american teams there will also be teams from London (England, not Ontario), Shanghai and Seoul. The teams will also receive special skins (as they are called) for their in-game characters which will serve as team uniforms.

I haven't seen Get Out yet, but after going on a bit of a horror movie binge some of the best to come out of late are:

Anti-Christ
The With
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night
Let Me In
Eyes of My Mother
Untamed
Descent
Ruins
Green Room
Evil Dead (remake) [need to re-watch to confirm]

Edit: Add A Cure for Wellness to the list. And The Void.

Get Out is brilliant.

On this topic, everyone loved It Follows ... wife and I thought it was boring.

Yeah Get Out was great. Though the lead actor should have won over Franco at the golden globes over the weekend. Apparently it's got great re-watchability for clues and easter eggs too.

The movie felt like more of an artistic statement about STDs than an actual horror story.

I haven't. Saw the trailer some time ago, but never got around to it.

I did finally get around to seeing It Comes at Night, along with The Hallow, and The Hive. It Comes at Night might be the best of the three, but I actually preferred The Hallow. Within thirty minutes of It Comes at Night, I was hoping for everyone, save the son, to die a quick death. It's so fucking uninteresting.
