Not to get ahead of ourselves, but NBC is eyeing that Flyers-Pens playoff series and salivating.

Konecny playing on that line has been fun, he has a lot less to worry about and more freedom he's playing extremely confident right now and it shows.

Good to see them win. That one-handed tap-in by G was beautiful, as was the setup by Couturier for it.

Weird shit happens when we play them. Plus, it's that or the Caps/Lightning PPs, or a dreadful to watch Devs team as of now.

The Devs are awful again, regression to the blah blah blah :why:

I'm taking my wife and son to their first NHL game tomorrow. Of course I want to see the Devils win but I think my 9 year old will cry on the drive home if that happens so I won't be one bit upset if the Flyers take a shit on the Devils. Let me do the scouting for you, cover Hall and forecheck Lovejoy. That's all a team has to do to beat us right now.

Its a rough division. I was mostly commenting on my lack of interest in watching a Devs playoff series, not their talent level. In truth, they've outplayed expectations a good bit this year.

I hear ya. They’re a fast attacking team but it’s such an up and down season now with the young guns all in a rut together now minus I guess Zacha.

My household would love that series. My son is getting better at shit talking so it would be super fun watching games with him.

Neuvirth will collapse in 2nd period...

Prior to tonight's game, Philadelphia Flyers GM Ron Hextall announced to the media an update on the condition of goaltender Brian Elliott:
"Brian Elliott had successful core muscle surgery this morning," said Hextall. "He's expected to be out 5-6 weeks."

Hakstol is probably happy to have one point tonight.

Babcock, Laviolette, and Quenneville, however, would be furious.

Bill Meltzer is oddly obsessed with scoreboard watching given how much of the schedule is left.

Do you guys lurk on the Devils board? They’ve been scoreboard watching since December. I don’t care till the last 10-15 games and saying I “care” is a stretch too.

I've been checking the standings a lot lately since I like seeing the Flyers in a playoff spot, but definitely not paying attention to the score of other games. Other teams are gonna pick up points, 3 point games are gonna happen, no reason to worry about any specific ones.

I check most scores for fantasy hockey reasons anyway, but I do note if other Metro teams won or lost when I'm checking.

Yeah, I look at the standings and see where we're sitting ... but this far out, there is just no point in worrying about who wins what game ... and that goes for the Flyers as well. As long as we are picking up points, we will be fine. With 25+ games less, you're going to have teams go on crazy win streaks ... losing streaks ... mediocre stretches ... you just don't know where things will be with 10 games to go. At that point, by all means start to pay close attention.

Hovercraft wrote:I check most scores for fantasy hockey reasons anyway, but I do note if other Metro teams won or lost when I'm checking.

Oh, absolutely ... I've just noticed Meltzer on twitter commenting on the scoreboard regularly, and he was fretting over the results yesterday.

I'll start scoreboard watching maybe 7 games before the end of the season if a playoff spot isn't locked up for the Flyers.

This is a fun team to watch. Will be even more so once Sanheim, etc. are regulars in the lineup. ... and then there's Frost. This run of 1st round picks could be truly epic if they all follow the trajectory they've been on thus far.

I'm really, really curious to see if Hextall can repeat the magic of 2015 and 2017 where he had two picks to play with and hit on them both (assuming Frost continues to develop).

The 2017 draft day is really shaping up to be a truly stunning (franchise altering) GM success as of now ... given that the Schenn trade has not fully played out.

What'd you guys like better? TK's defensive play and pass or Couturier's snipe?

I've said this multiple times but I have had a good time this season of reminding people how wrong they were about Couturier. "3rd line shutdown center at best" "No offensive talent"

Answer: TK working over the Bluejackets.

I've seen Couturier score some real pretty goals before (3:48-4:54). What I haven't seen a lot of, even going back to Richards and Carter, is a 20-year old forward playing like a veteran that actually belongs in this league, and that is how Konecny has been playing for about a month now it feels like.

Fuck yes Bob was frustrating. There were 3 saves which could have very well been goals. Pretty much set a tone for the game. Glad the Flyers buckled down and overcame it.

Also, I was disappointed when the Jackets tied it late. Neuvirth was playing really well.

Eh, let's give Briere some credit ... he was plenty gritty (could get dirty with the stick). Sort of have to be at that size. Hopefully, Konecny is a bit more committed to D. But in terms of skill, quickness, etc., he reminds me of him.

I think Hover meant physicality. Briere was nasty with the stick, but he never hit. Konecny doesn't just try to hit. He finishes. And I don't think anyone will disagree with that.

Did not realize we were in such a bad funk against the Rangers. Not happy with Ghost dropping the gloves. Really no reason for him to do that and we need him on the ice as much as possible. Two odd goals so far while he was sitting in the box, one because of a redirect from rather high in the slot, and the other because it was either MacDonald or Lehtera and either would be surprising. Also a fantastic save by Neuvirth on Grabner.

Not a good look by Coots there with Nash behind him and free reign on the rebound. Also not sure why Simmer fought there. Still dropped him easily.

The Lehtera whiff was pure comedy. This... this was just depressing:
