I'm starting to feel it too. I got prescribed Singulair, which i think is for asthma, but definitely keeps most of my allergies at bay.

Whats strange is it was much worse up in Canada than here, but then again i might just be allergic to Canada.

I think "new" environments will fuck you up. My first spring living in NJ (after a decade plus in the city) was the most brutal allergy experience of my life.

Singulair is for both. I take it for my asthma and my doc picked it over other drugs because I get some allergies too

Yea definitely. When ever we stay at my parents house in Ocean City I always get flair ups, but I also think there is mold in the house since after Sandy

It definitely works for allergies. I also take Zyzol for when it gets really bad. Zyzol really works the best for me, but its expensive and my insurance doesnt cover it anymore since its over the counter.

Fun fact for us American Broads: There was a spanking scene cut from the movie Hellraiser because it was too much.

The seduction scene between Julia and Frank was, initially, a lot more explicit. Barker says on the commentary: "We did a version of this scene which had some spanking in it and the MPAA was not very appreciative of that. Lord knows where the spanking footage is. Somebody has it somewhere…The MPAA told me I was allowed two consecutive buttock thrusts from Frank but three is deemed obscene!"

There's a documentary about the MPAA ("Rate This Movie," maybe?), that is actually pretty interesting. Gets into how absurd the rating system is, and spefically highlights the way violence is okay while even modest sexual stuff ups the rating quickly.

It's called "This Film is not yet rated" and it is indeed excellent. I for my part have never understood how america thinks in this regard, particularly during the whole "nipplegate" Super Bowl Half-time show fiasco.

You can probably start by blaming the Catholics and have a high level of confidence you're in the right. Just saying...

Pence embraced Evangelism a while back. Catholicism has only had a marginal influence on US culture, so tough to lay the blame there. Protestantism is the real root of the religious culture wars (the recently departed Billy Graham and co.).

FYI folks. My wife gave birth late last night at 11:40pm to our second child (another daughter). I've been less active here lately because of the pregnancy, work on our new house, and lack of hockey. Now the excuses will include lack of sleep.

Baby and mommy are healthy. All is good.

We can all expect an uptick in posts, then. Particularly between the hours of 12 AM and 4 AM.

Congrats, JL.

When my wife said she wanted to get pregnant again I actually told her "Dammit you want to go through THAT again." The first night your kid sleeps through the night, you feel like you won the Stanley Cup.

Yes I'm posting this at 1:18 am.

It's totally worth it. Just the first three months generally blow because it's a lot of work and not much reward. Newborns have 3 actions: poop, eat, and sleep. Sometimes they'll look around but not much else.

Once you get through that, the second they legit smile at you recognizing it, it'll all be worth it.

Congrats CSC!

Well, and a fourth action, which is to scream at you until you guess and fix whichever of the other three is bothering her at the time.

Set your expectations as low as possible, and it will be much easier. Then, at 2-3 months, they smile at you and it's cool as fuck and things progress from there. Then you get real fun lift off at about 2. My son says some funny shit now, and is really excited about doing things.

But, yeah, don't let anyone fool you about the first couple of months ... and, early warning, you will feel woefully unprepared when they send you home from the hospital. The good news is that they are harder to break than you imagine.

Underline 1: My daughter who is almost 3 amazes me. She's been using the word "actually" quite well.

Since the second baby was born, my mom (Grandma) has stayed over to help out since my wife had a c-section and is recovering. My step dad (Pop Pop) had to leave on Saturday to go help my brother with some things as he just bought a house and was moving in. Yesterday, on the way back from daycare, my oldest asks "Grandma at house? and I say yes. Then she asks "Pop Pop at Uncle's house?" I was like "Damn how did you remember that?"

Underline 2: Oh I still had slight nervous/excitement shakes loading this new baby into the car and driving her home the first time, and I had already went through it with my first daughter. I don't think they'll ever go away.

It actually isn't that bad depending on how you handle sleep. The first night or two are always a cluster fuck. I think I slept an hour at most the first night, just trying to figure out feeding, etc. I'm glad my mom is staying with us because the following day she took over for 2 hours and let me and my wife crash for a bit. My wife also wanted to exclusively breast feed which the baby was passing out from her body heat before she would finish enough for a "full meal" so if we put her down to sleep she'd get fussy unless we held her to sleep. We switched to bottle feeding the next day, now she'll eat enough and pass out after a full meal, and after maybe 10 minutes of holding her and burping I can put her down to rest and get other things done.

After a few days you will get down the baby's schedule and can start scheduling with your significant other who takes what shifts at night. Slowly, the baby will sleep longer between feedings (albeit eat a lot more at each feeding and poop a lot more) then somewhere between 3-6 months, maybe earlier, they will finally sleep through the night.

I think to account for me going back to work, I'm going to get our oldest to bed between 7 or 7:30, then let my wife sleep until midnight or 12:30; she'll wake up once in that time frame to pump, go back to sleep, then stay with the baby until I wake up at 5:30 for work. We have a futon set up downstairs where she will sleep next to the baby...I'll probably binge TV/movies. Then I'll be responsible for getting my oldest to and from daycare.

When I posted my annoyed message at 1AM 2 nights ago, I wasn't still fully recovered yet. Last night I felt great. Feel much better this morning. No return to work yet but I've had errands to run yesterday and today and I could have pushed myself to midnight last night with some help from my good friend caffeine.

Sleep is really kid dependant. Kid 1 was a great napper, but a nightmare with bedtime. Kid 2 slepts 7+ hrs a night at like week 2, but has never been a good napper.

I definitely was better prepared mentally for the sleep problem with 2, as well.
