2018-19 Prospect Updates.

Post #1 by Rogers Pancreas » Sat Oct 13, 2018 1:26 pm

Frost is 4th in OHL scoring so far, and leads the SOO Greyhounds by 7 points after just 9 games. It looks like he's improved in the faceoff circle as well.

Ratcliffe looks to have taken another step forward this season, which is what I think we all wanted to see. (If not him then Strome, and vica verse.) He's 13th in scoring, league-wide, and 4th in goal-scoring. And, to top it off, he's doing it all as the active captain of the Guelph Storm - one of the top teams in the OHL.

Ratcliffe and Allison are pretty interesting prospects on the horizon. May have some real scoring depth on the wings in the not too distant future.

The transition to the pros was a bit tougher than Hart expected. He was pulled in his second game after allowing four goals on 16 shots. Through his first seven starts, he allowed 23 goals on a .883 save percentage. "In juniors, I could get away with a lot more than I can here," Hart said. "A couple times, I have been burnt on plays where I've been sleeping a bit mentally. I have to be fully engaged in the full 60 minutes."

Hart had practiced mindfulness breathing last year, waking up and listening to a 15-minute track that concentrates on coherent breathing and deep breaths while focusing on one part of the body and the sensations there, and then moving on. Hart had stopped the routine but resumed recently and found the practice has helped. "Once I come out of it, I feel more aware of my surroundings and myself," Hart said.

Hart deleted his Twitter account. He said he has not watched one Flyers game this season. "I don't need to worry about what's going on up there," Hart said. "Obviously, if there's a goaltender injury up there, I'm aware of it. But my focus needs to be here; I'm not concerned about how things are going up there."

"I'm starting to get into a routine of things, and things are starting to feel more comfortable," Hart said. "Now things are feeling more comfortable at home, I'm starting to feel more comfortable at the rink. I'm starting to feel like myself again."

The positives here are that Carter has a 0.905 save percentage over his last five games played, and that's including two games in which he posted a 0.889 and 0.842 SVPCT, respectively. He's not shutting down the league, but he does appear to be turning a corner.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And in other news, Frost's ever so quietly leading the OHL in scoring.

Frost was named the OHL second star of the week, last week, and now has 65 points (after 35 games played.) That puts him at 6th overall in scoring.

Ratcliffe has exploded since being put with Suzuki. He has 10 goals in his last 7 games played, and sits at 8th overall in goal-scoring. He was also just named the OHL's second star of the week.

Farabee has also picked it up of late, which is what we wanted to see. He now has 16 points in 19 games played; for a freshman, that ain't not bad.

Oh, hey, Frost just had another four point night, and that happened to be enough to get him to 4th overall in the scoring race. He's outscoring the next guy on his team by 19 points... in 7 less games played.

Frost decided he no longer needs assists to win the scoring title. He went with five goals instead.

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Philadelphia Flyers prospect Morgan Frost of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds is the CHL Player of the Week for the regular season week ending January 20 after scoring seven goals and three assists for 10 points in three games with a plus-minus rating of plus-10.

Frost led the Greyhounds to three wins last week extending their winning-streak to six games extending their lead atop the OHL’s West Division standings where they carry a 30-10-4-1 record. His weekend road trip began in North Bay on Thursday contributing an assist in a 5-1 win over the Battalion, and continued Saturday in Barrie with two goals and two assists earning second star honours in an 8-5 win over the Colts. His week wrapped up Sunday with an impressive five-goal performance against the Wolves earning first star honours in the 7-4 victory. The hat-trick alone set a new personal best for Frost who produced a pair of goals at even strength along with a shorthanded, power play, and empty-net marker in total to reach the 30-goal plateau for the second straight season.

A 19-year-old from Aurora, Ont., Frost is playing in his fourth season with the Greyhounds who chose him in the fourth round of the 2015 OHL Priority Selection. He is currently third in OHL scoring with 75 points in just 38 games and leads the OHL with a 1.97 points-per-game average. Frost represented Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship and was a first round pick by the Flyers in the 2017 NHL Draft.

As a freshman, Farabee is leading the Terriers in scoring with 24 points in 25 games played. The Terriers, by all accounts, have been terrible this year so maybe leading his team in scoring isn't all that impressive. But any freshmen putting up nearly a PPG in the NCAA is. Or at least it is in my books.

Everything I've read has been positive, and obviously he had some dazzling moments in the WJC. I'll be curious whether or not he makes it to his sophomore year up there.

Frosty had a four point game and a three point game over the weekend. He's tied for third overall in league scoring.

He's five points off the lead with seven less games played.
