Government security is way more lax than you'd think. They hand out clearances to contractors like candy and don't really do much of a job keeping that stuff locked down. It's better the higher up you go, but there's too many people with access to think it can't leak.

I used to work for a major defense contractor as a Sys admin. I know what you're saying about relaxed security but that's only in areas that aren't as important as one would think. At Northrop Grumman we had top secret environments and TOP SECRET ENVIRONMENTS. It's a very shades of gray policy no matter what they say.

Sounds like it may have been a CIA insider.

In other news, we learned today that Paul Ryan literally does not understand what the word 'insurance' means. Does. Not. Inspire. Confidence.

The guy is a disingenuous ideologue that folks treat like an intellectual for some reason. Did you see the interview a lil bit back when he suggested auto insurance was not state by state?

Yep, it says a lot about the current state of the GOP that this guy is the policy mastermind.

Also, a minor point in the grand scheme of things, but the hypocrisy of a person who has spent his entire adult life in government (except for a brief nepotism stint at his family's company) preaching how evil said government is in comparison to the wonderful, munificent private sector has always bugged me a lot.

We had a crazy windstorm last night, gusting up to 180km/h. Still thousands of people without electricity.

Man that budget is fugly. There will be nothing worth protecting in the US soon enough. No culture, no parks, no wildlife, etc. Just normal people struggling to make ends meet and lots of billionaires and corporations pillaging.

Its more important to find out who's leaking information than impeach the President for treason obviously.

Also more important to pass some bullshit healthcare bill.

This should be the big story of the day:

Sort of confusing as to why he had a press conference about it. He really didnt even say anything and didnt share it with his Democrat counter part. As he was on the transition team, he was likely part of this as was the President. So hes basically saying I heard they have evidence on me and the boss, but I cant say anything but I'm going to go tell him (the subject of the investigation). Should never have made it public on what he found at all, but they are so concerned with vindicating the outrageous claims.

We are run by a bunch of old folks who still haven't grasped the Internet and it's purpose here. I'm not shocked at this.

Disappointing. While other countries are passing laws for the "right to be forgotten" and boost your privacy, our country just keeps diving in to gather all it can on you. Surveillance state ftw.

This is less a matter of surveillance, and more about corporate interests. So much advertising data there to sell/exploit.

Hopefully it doesn't lead to things like potential employers buying your info as another check. Or Health Insurance companies seeing if you googled any symptoms in order to deny coverage

Now they are saying this is a "Rescue Plan." They just need to cop to the fact that ObamaCare isn't that bad. Sure there are some problems, so lets fix that. But they clearly don't want to fix it, but rather put in a plan that benefits themselves (and rich men) rather than their constituents.

What is so disingenuous about this is that a GOP talking point for years has been to remove the barrier on sale between states. If they federalize EHBs and then allow sales across state lines all insurance will be regulated by the state with the weakest laws (e.g., incorporations in Delaware).

It may not need to get to that level, a ton of people are just willing to just throw that information out on the internet for everyone to see without any regard. Employers generally screen potential job applicants by searching social media.

Every time we have an opening I search the applicants on facebook. We interviewed a girl today who looked like a complete tramp on facebook but ended up being a potential candidate. While she might end up getting the job it's not good for your potential employer to already have an impression of you before you even speak.

I once had an absolute doofus of a student that I was having a problem with, but was trying to be sympathetic towards. His FB profile pic of him doing a keg stand did not help his cause.

In related news, I recently had a student I busted for plagiarism a while back try to connect with me on LinkedIn.

Nunes, likely at the behest of the White House, is now actively preventing Yates/Brennan from testifying in front of the House Intelligence Committee because some of their testimony may contradict public statements from White House officials regarding Flynn/Russia and what the WH knew/when they knew it.

I started out as kind of a skeptic on the whole Trump/Russia thing (as far as an actual coordinated effort), but innocent people don't behave like this.

Donald Trump's finger puppet Sean Hannity needs to step into a pot of boiling acid.

what a fucking annoying fucking prick that guy is. Dan Rather has more integrity on the very tip of one of his hairs than Hannity has in his entire body.

It's crazy that Nunes hasn't been removed from the HIC yet.

And apparently a independent committee would require Trump's approval in order to be formed. :nice:
