So, it looks like Evander Kane, the problem child who has managed to 30 goals or more exactly once in his career, will be getting a slight raise.

As in 7 million per year for the next 7 years.

Bit of a bummer since it seemed like Hoffman was a good Target for us.

I believe you mean shitshow. The past year, as summarized on reddit:

Owner threatened fans with moving team

• Franchise-best player being sold off

• Assistant GM Randy Lee accused of sexually harassing 19-year old bus driver

• Mike Hoffman’s girlfriend stalks and harasses Erik Karlsson and his wife online

• Team traded 1st-round pick in 2018 or 2019 that they’re now trying to get back

• Fans started revolt against owner including billboards

• Team’s most legendary player left for second time, this time from the front office

• Owner fired CEO, named himself new CEO

• Fan favourite Turris is shipped off

• Both goalies have career-awful seasons

• Not enough money for ushers in the third deck

• Town hall meetings where owner said Alfredsson wanted to leave

• Clarke MacArthur forced to retire from concussions

• Baby onesies outfit is recalled due to ‘choking hazard’

• Mcdonald’s gift cards were handed out on Fan Appreciation Night but the Senators forgot to activate them

Which was followed up by this beauty:

Former captain Daniel Alfredsson admitted that he and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson have talked about the Senators’ need for a new owner.
“We’ve talked a lot, we’ve talked about the future of the Senators and of its ownership and we agree,” Alfredsson told former Ottawa Sun writer Susan Sherring.
“We hope we get a new owner.”

19 seems really young for a bus driver.

Habs' management gets a memo to start the rebuild process: proceeds to trade Galchenyuk for Domi in the rare one for one.

Their group reminds me a lot of the Flyers' back when Holmgren was the general manager. You never quite knew if they were coming or going.

And Dougie Hamilton's now on his third team.

I'm thinking there has to be something more to this, because teams don't just throw in 6'6", right-handed, cost-controlled, two-way defensemen.

I've spent the last hour looking over capfriendly, and just... thinking.

Carey Price - 8 years at 10.5 until 2026. (NMC)
Ilya Bryzgalov - 9 years at 4.65 until 2020.
Mike Richards - 12 years at 5.75 until 2020. (NMC)
Rick DiPietro - 15 years at 4.5 until 2021.
Shea Weber - 14 years at 7.86 until 2026.
David Clarkson - 7 years at 5.25 until 2020. (Modified NTC, NMC)
Nathan Horton - 7 years at 5.3 until 2020. (Modified NTC, NMC)
Andy MacDonald - 6 years at 5 until 2020.

1.) Fuck Paul Holmgren.
2.) I'm glad I'm not the Canadiens.
3.) God damn you, Andy MacDonald.

And a distant fourth...

4.) BOBROVSKY.

The Weber contact is weird because if he retires the Preds are on the hook for the cap recapture penalty, not the Habs. Also, the last like 6 years of his deal don't pay him anything, so he's probably going to retire.

So we kinda expect him to get traded back to the Preds at some point so they can LTIR him before he retires.
