Dirty Flyers, always finding new ways to take out other teams' star players:

Montreal Canadiens goaltender

has suffered a concussion and will be out indefinitely according to head coach Claude Julien.

#Habs Price has suffered a concussion and is out indefinitely, says Claude Julien.
— John Lu (@JohnLuTSNMtl) February 22, 2018

Price was shaken up after taking a puck in the mask on Tuesday against the Philadelphia Flyers. He was attended to by a trainer on the ice, but did not leave the game.

The 30-year-old did not practice on Wednesday and the Canadiens called up
from the AHL’s Laval Rocket.

Glad to see the Devils have adopted the Sabres model for rebuilding, as opposed to one that actually works.

I’m not happy..we’re not remotely close to have only 1 pick in the first three rounds this coming draft (no 2nd or 3rd now)

No idea why the Devils went after Grabner, but I guess my work-colleague who is a Devils fan from Villach (Grabner's hometown, also that of the Raffl brothers) will be happy.

At some point these teams will figure out how valuable picks are in a capped league. Took a GM change here.

Apparently the Penguins are trying to get Brassard from Ottawa, but Ottawa doesn't want retain Salary on Brassard, so they are trying to use Vegas as a "trade station" so that Vegas is settled with retaining salary on Brassard. Seems like a ton of Salary Cap circumvention. The NHL has already rejected one trade.

Thank god a former Flyer player went somewhere else to learn for a bit, so they didn't have to break front-office hiring precedent entirely in finding a quality GM.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have officially acquired Derick Brassard in a three-way trade with the Senators and Golden Knights. Pittsburgh also gets forward Vincent Dunn from the Senators plus Ottawa's 2018 third-round pick, and they get forward Tobias Lindberg from Vegas.

The Senators get defenceman Ian Cole, goalie Filip Gustavsson, a 2018 first-round pick and a 2019 third-round pick from the Penguins.

The Golden Knights get forward Ryan Reaves and a 2018 fourth-round draft pick (originally acquired from Vancouver) from Pittsburgh. As part of the deal, Vegas is retaining 40 per cent of Brassard's salary this season.

Another first bites the dust.

How involving a third team tho retain salary on a player that hasn't played a single minute of hockey for it is in any way admissible under the salary cap is beyond me. That seems like one of the more obvious and blatant acts of cap circumvention since the salary cap was introduced, and the NHL waved it through in the end.

Our local radio station (WGR550) has these two guys that nail the NHL to the cross pretty regularly, and the funny part is it's not unjustified. Their main arguments are that the NHL never really thinks things through completely, before implementing, and only react to NHL GM's and players alike pulling one over on them. And this will be just another example of the NHL reacting to an oversight, because you know they will not let this loophole stand.

Holy moly did the Bruins overpay to get Nash and rid themselves of Belesky. Granted, Nash is at 50% retained by the Rangers, but that cost them Spooner, a 1st round pick, a 7th round pick, and the guy they picked at 49th overall in 2016 Ryan Lindgren, and they still have 50% of Belesky on the books this year.

As long as the Rangers don't get Dahlin then who cares. Rangers will overpay when it's their turn to be back up top.

If I'm reading this right, the Bruins essentially swapped out Ryan Spooner and Ryan Lindgren for Rick Nash, and then sent a first away to get rid of Matt Belesky.

Not quite sure how this improves their team, but I'm also a simpleton.

Belesky is in the AHL now isn't he?
so we had trades between the Rangers and Devils and Leafs and Habs this year.
Not sure how I would feel about getting Rick Nash if I am a Bruins fan. I also have to agree I dont think this really makes them better.

For what it's worth, Spooner has the better points-percentage this year between the two, though he played significantly fewer games.

Spooner starts a crazy amount of his zone starts in the ozone(77% this season!!) and is completely sheltered. I'd still take Nash over him, especially on a playoff team. Nash has a strong 2 way game, Spooner can't be trusted. But losing a first is rough.

Plekanec is heading to TO (along with Kyle Baun [?]) for Kerby Rychel, Rinal Valiev (?), and a 2nd.

I think I like this deal. Relatively low-risk with some versatility built in. So, it's not like they're going to count on him to score and only score.

And they're ten points clear of falling into the top 10 and getting the option to defer the pick a year, so we should be able to root for them to lose a lot. Landing a pick around 13-15 from them would be huge.

Alt got claimed by COL when HExtall tried to send him down to make the AHL cutoff day for playoffs. So we claimed Odyua from Ottawa. He's pretty washed up at this point but he's a vet so I'm sure Hak will love him.

St. Louis just sold off Stastny to division rival Winnipeg for a conditional 1st this year, a conditional 4th in 2020 and a no-name prospect in Erik Foley. Good news for us, though Stastny is 32 and a UFA at the end of the season, still put in 40 points for the Blues this year. The Blues obviously trying to recoup a 1st they gave up for Schenn and were willing to eat 50% of Stastny's salary for it. Also lol to Winnipeg for trading draft picks three drafts away.

Evander Kane just got traded to San Jose for a 1st, 4th and a prospect. That's extremely close to what Nash got the Rangers depending on how you weigh Boston getting rid of Belesky's contract and the fact that the Rangers took on 50% of Nash's salary.

Edit: And Ryan Hartman got almost the same for Chicago out of Nashville. Pure idiocy right there.

Edit 2: Apparently Kane only fetches a 1st if he re-signs with the Sharks, otherwise it becomes a 2nd. Makes it a little more palpable, but makes the Hartman deal just look sillier.

I'm very surprised Tatar returned that much. He's not a rental at least, but he's overpaid for his production and term.

Looks like Wilson will be sitting the next three games, which takes him right to game 7 (assuming the series lasts).

I feel like the NHL DOPS may have looked at the damage done through the first three games by Wilson, and decided "That's close enough." Because to me, that hit looked clean.

Their explanation is pretty thorough and shows the reverse angle where he clearly hits the guy in the head. Guy is a piece of shit and deserves to sit. I'm just frustrated that it always has to be a surprise that the DOPS actually enforces rules properly, particularly with Wilson and his history of escaping suspensions for no discernable reason. I also don't like that the DOPS suspends for results rather than actions, i.e. I believe if the Pens player hadn't sustained a broken jaw and a concussion the suspension would be shorter.

Hit was definitely not clean if you view it from the bench side. Shoulder right to thew jaw, left his skates. Reese's face looks like jell-o in slow mo. They could have suspended him 1 game for the Dumolin hit too. I think it's one of the reasons it's 3 games for this one. They know they fucked up. It's no accident how many headshots Wilson is associated with.

He spent too much time watching our dmen and forgot how to properly play the game.

Alternately, Letang isn't actually that good a defenseman, and finally got burned for it. Definitely a dumb play on his part, considering Dumoulin had already jumped up into the play.

I will say this - the NHL has done an outstanding job in becoming as irrelevant as physically possible over a very short period of time.

Last night, I started watching Winnipeg and Vegas, and thought "what the fuck am I doing with my time? I'd be better off reading the 2016 State of the Union report put together by the department of Health and Human Services." And though I'm not entirely through it, I have zero regrets.

I've had teams and/or players I can get behind almost every year except this one. I'm never going to support Neal or Fleury, so Vegas is dead to me. Tom Wilson is a human excrement, so the Capitals may as well join Vegas in the graveyard. That leaves two franchises led by two superstars who do nothing but score goals, which I don't really find all that interesting.

I guess he means Laine, but Scheifele and Wheeler are more integral Jets than Laine right now. Laine and Ehlers are the 2nd wave of attack.
