So, it looks like Evander Kane, the problem child who has managed to 30 goals or more exactly once in his career, will be getting a slight raise.

As in 7 million per year for the next 7 years.

Bit of a bummer since it seemed like Hoffman was a good Target for us.

I believe you mean shitshow. The past year, as summarized on reddit:

Owner threatened fans with moving team

• Franchise-best player being sold off

• Assistant GM Randy Lee accused of sexually harassing 19-year old bus driver

• Mike Hoffman’s girlfriend stalks and harasses Erik Karlsson and his wife online

• Team traded 1st-round pick in 2018 or 2019 that they’re now trying to get back

• Fans started revolt against owner including billboards

• Team’s most legendary player left for second time, this time from the front office

• Owner fired CEO, named himself new CEO

• Fan favourite Turris is shipped off

• Both goalies have career-awful seasons

• Not enough money for ushers in the third deck

• Town hall meetings where owner said Alfredsson wanted to leave

• Clarke MacArthur forced to retire from concussions

• Baby onesies outfit is recalled due to ‘choking hazard’

• Mcdonald’s gift cards were handed out on Fan Appreciation Night but the Senators forgot to activate them

Which was followed up by this beauty:

Former captain Daniel Alfredsson admitted that he and Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson have talked about the Senators’ need for a new owner.
“We’ve talked a lot, we’ve talked about the future of the Senators and of its ownership and we agree,” Alfredsson told former Ottawa Sun writer Susan Sherring.
“We hope we get a new owner.”

Habs' management gets a memo to start the rebuild process: proceeds to trade Galchenyuk for Domi in the rare one for one.

Their group reminds me a lot of the Flyers' back when Holmgren was the general manager. You never quite knew if they were coming or going.

And Dougie Hamilton's now on his third team.

I'm thinking there has to be something more to this, because teams don't just throw in 6'6", right-handed, cost-controlled, two-way defensemen.

Well Karlsson has finally been traded. He is now a member of the Sharks. The Sens have gained a first round pick, a second rounder, Chris Tierny, Josh Norris, Rudolfs Balcers and Dylan DeMelo. The Sens fan base is back on suicide watch.

Also Tyler Seguin has been extended by the Stars, making a smidge under 10 million for 8 years.

"What I've been told is that Mark Stone does not want to be in Ottawa anymore," Louis Jean said Tuesday on "Dave Morissette." "He does not want to play in Ottawa anymore. He is frustrated because he sees the direction the club is going. The team is not able to retain their good players."

Who the hell is Louis Jean?

A minute on google told me that it's a long time sports reporter for TVA, however Stone has dismissed this.

Not to be disagreeable, but a player's words aren't worth their bandwidth. Rarely will they say anything that deviates from the script they've been rehearsing since they were 16.

That's not to say I think this Jean whatever guy is the least bit credible. It's just interesting is all.

Corey Perry had surgery today to repair meniscus and MCL injuries and will be out for five months. I will leave my personal opinion of Perry at the door, and just say that this is atrocious for the Ducks.

Now, the Senators... those players lives are pure shit, and I almost feel bad for their fans.

I’ve never really thought of the Sens at all before the past 12 months or so. I feel terrible for that entire fan base. I wouldn’t spend a penny on them. Much like I’m going to do against the Mets ownership. It won’t matter but they won’t get my money anymore.

Seems like Scott Hartnell has retired. Kind of feel sorry for him that he never won the Cup. Such a funny guy. Probably getting some kind of ambassador job or something from the Flyers int he near future, unless he heads over to Finland and do stuff with his BFF Kimmo and the hockey team they own.

Forfeits over 1 million in salary. That's gotta send a message. Why go after a young guy just trying to make his team in a preseason game?

According to capfriendly his signing bonus is affected as well:

(if you view this tweet, there is discussion in the replies explaining it)

It's only performance bonuses that aren't affected.

That's the kind of bite that'll send a message.

But what kind of message does the NHLPA send to its constituents when they appeal a suspension that resulted in a serious injury to one of its own?

NHLPA cares more about protecting salaries than it does player safety.
