I might have to go to Georgia to see them. Big bro lives down there and one of the nights is my bday. Pretty disappointing, though.

Hopefully there will be some fall dates, preferably at the Wells Fargo Center or Boardwalk Hall.

Those dates definitely are a bummer for this area. Merriweather is close but not Camden close.

Is that one of those dry venues? We saw Phish at Jones Beach last summer and they dont server alcohol in the place and you cant drink in the lot. Absolutely terrible. Good show though.

Finally caught up on Dexter. Been a great show but glad next season will bring it to an end.

Started watching Season 2 of Homeland. First episode was average. Does it get better?

Homeland was really hit or miss in the 2nd season, I think you just have to sit back and embrace the madness and implausibility though, it's still entertaining most of the time.

Nice. I don't listen to them nearly as much anymore, but I do enjoy following them. Based one what I've heard them say about the whole record, which has been very little and is based a good amount off the teaser vid, I get an NFG/Coming Home vibe, which could be kinda cool. Maybe not in terms of content, because they're not as old as NFG when they put out Coming Home, but just in the sense that they're not unaware of getting older as they've dealt with various things

CantSeeColors wrote:Solid. Either of you guys going to the show friday?

I'm not. I didn't even know they were playing around here until it was almost sold out. I have a hard time going to a lot of shows because people often seem determined to show their good time is more important than someone else's, which I think is truer at a show with a band like Wonder Years. That being said, I do really appreciate how they go about things and I am anticipating the record. Between this and The Story So Far it'll be a cool couple months for new stuff

Except the one concert we both went to with all the 12 year old kids. That was kind of weird usually the crowd is a bit older, but considering it was 4/20 the little kids had to show how hardcore they were.

Finally got around to downloading What You Don't See and man is it incredible.

Meant to ask you as well CSC are you going to the concert?

Yeah that show was real weird. I was totally content hanging back and watching from afar. If they come around again I'll probably do the same if it's cheap enough. Didn't know the new TSSF leaked. Last I heard it was a real shit version so I didn't bother looking since

Went to the Hold Steady in January when they came through Philly. For the first 45 minutes of the set I had a drunk dude next to me acting like he never drank before. At one point he came up to me and said something of "don't be a douche and enjoy the music." I gave him this, I can't hear shit look and laughed. After that he was dancing, singing lyrics, it was funny to watch but grew old quick once he started pushing everyone against everyone. At one point he was attempting to crowd surf my friend. It's times like those where I hate standing room only shows. I'm fine with people getting into the music, but when you start pushing people into other people (not in a pit) it pisses me off.

Never a bad time when you see two great bands they were both great last time I saw them.

Looking forward to warped tour this year a lot of great bands will be there, Citizen, Man Overboard, Handguns and The Wonder Years all playing. So will a couple of other bands I listen to so that should be pretty fun.

Private bittorrent tracker is the best bet. With the new regulations (as toothless as they are) you don't want to download GoT from a public site. HBO will be watching.

However, it seems that this will be the last year (or maybe two) of HBOGO not being available for purchase by non-subscribers. If HBO is smart they would be the first TV channel to go completely rogue.

It's amazing that it's taken them this long, I think a lot of people would pay $20-$50 bucks per year for HBOGO to avoid the hassle of dl'ing, especially with how difficult HBO makes it (currently, we all pay nothing), but they've just been content to watch money go out the window.

I'm sure part of it was long term deals they are waiting to expire and some of it just fear of the new economic situation. Many of their shows cost a fortune to make. For example, Rome was canceled purely due to budget reasons, not because of ratings or critical failure. Due to that, I'm sure that for many years they were more concerned about consistent, predictable revenue streams rather than rolling the dice.

Thanks, I might give torrenting a shot in the future. I usually just watch it via links from one of several host sites like streamallthis.ch or http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/. Some friends were going to watch GOT but I couldn't join them so I was going to try to find some place that streamed it live so I could chat online with them and watch it simultaneously. It turns out they are watching it at 10 rather than 9 so if someone uploads it super quickly I might be able to join in. Last year some episodes were uploaded before the show aired or while it was airing because it was released on HBOGo or a foreign equivalent of that before it aired on tv.

I'll check out HBOGO. I like Game Of Thrones a lot so it would be good to support the channel and provide more views. Does it provide access to all HBO programs or just some of them?

The books are great, I'm looking forward to The Winds of Winter whenever it comes out. Have you read the Dunk and Egg books http://www.reddit.com/r/asoiaf/wiki/faq#wiki_b._the_dunk_.26_egg_novellas ? I've considered buying them but haven't yet, I think there is or eventually will be a book of just the short novellas.

If they stream in full HD, I'd pay way more than $50 a year for that ish. I pay what? $1k a year for a cell phone? I'd gladly pone up $100+ for HBOGO per year. I mean, shit, I'd just cancel cable TV w/o HBO.

Yeah I listened to some of the first chapter or two of Game of Thrones and I liked it. I heard that the reader, Roy Dotrice, didn't do the 4th book so when he was brought back for the 5th book all the voices he had for characters were different.
