I think my dislike of this trade is tied to the fact that one of the big pieces is a catcher with. 5% walk rate and 30% K rate. No faith in him working out

Eh, if he can be an effective defensive catcher (bigger concern if you ask me), then you can forgive some offensive flaws. Particularly if he can hit for some power.

Talking to my buddy who's a Mets fan. Interesting to see how the Carlos Gomez deal played out. Mets had concerns for his hip so they cancelled the deal. Then the Astros make the deal.

Also, Mets blew a 7-1 lead to lose 8-7. Hilarious that when they finally score more than 3 runs in a game they blow it.

Sure, but he's supposedly not at all good defensively right now, except the arm, and some people think he won't even be able to stick behind the plate

Right, which is why I think that's a bigger concern as far as getting a viable starter out of him.

Is there any sense how far these kids are from the bigs? I know they're all in AA, but that could mean a lot of things.

It was time. Man deserves some mild applause for rebuilding the farm system over the past 9 months, though.

Hopefully the entire Phils organization emerges from the shit show of the past few years with a more modern sensibility when it comes to personnel decisions. Amaro had personal faults, no doubt, but he was also symptomatic of much more deeply rooted problems within the Phils front office and ownership.

I can't wait for Stanton to opt out in 3 years and sign with the Phillies, just believe it guys it will happen.

That game yesterday was embarrassing the one play in the 8th when two of our players dropped the ball on the same play was just bad news bears.

Might become a Marlins fan for the year or until Stanton and or Fernandez gets hurt. Both of them are really fun to watch and they also have this.

I know right. I do flip between WIP and 97.5 to and from work from time to time. I don't mind listening when they are actually interviewing someone but man some of the calls actually make me shut the radio off in anger with the stupidity.

They gave Ruf more than enough time so far to try and get something going. At least Ryan can play his position and hit a dinger every now and then. I can deal with it for one more year.

Learned today that Hunter Pence plays Magic The Gathering. Just found that funny.

Also saw a lot of talk on twitter about Jose Fernandez. Always sad to see a young person die, particularly after reading that he and his girlfriend announced that they were having a child just days earlier. Reminds me a bit of Pelle actually. Also this gif got passed around and I thought it just fantastic. R.I.P.

Heard from a close friend of Mike Trout that Trout does indeed want to play in Philadelphia and that he will sign with Philly when his contract is up, but he will try to force the trade to the Phillies in 1-2 years.

If Trout forces the trade with 1 year left on his deal, I don't think the price would be that crazy because they would lose him for nothing. I could see 2 good prospects and some add ons, but you could just wait it out and go for him in FA

Players like Trout rarely if ever get fair value for the team when traded. It's usually impossible to trade 3-4 (whatever) great assets for 1 in return. He could force his way to you guys at a price you'd all probably love.

Like I could honestly see it being Moniak+ a pitching prospect and toss ins. As much as you don't wanna give up Moniak if you are getting Trout you don't even hesitate.

The other thing is that the Angels are screwed in the medium-term, awful contracts, bad roster, no prospects.

I'm a Mets fan. I missed it as I had family stuff to do today. That said this season has been a disaster with injuries. The team is so flawed I half wish they blow it up and build a normal team and not some 1960's Earl Weaver home run happy shitty defense club.
