SO HOW ABOUT THAT MAXWELL GUY RIGHT WHAT A STUD?!?!?!?!?

I mean it's only one game and there was some positives, but god damn Maxwell didn't look too hot.

He looked rough. No small task covering Julio, but I think big money was spent with the idea that Maxwell could at least rein in a guy like that.

Problem is Maxwell is a guy who likes to get physical, he just doesn't have the motor to cover a guy like Jones... although he did get burned by a 33 year old, hobbled Roddy White too. Shit game for him. Hopefully Billy Davis will wake the fuck up and bring the safeties down to help cover guys like Jones in the future, but Billy Davis being competent isn't something I think is likely.

Maxwell also didn't get much help -- he was left in man coverage a lot and the d-line didn't get any pressure. Lots of reasons for that loss last night.

Yeah, when you're stuck on an island (that's the Billy Davis theme I'm seeing here) you're kinda fucked against a guy like Jones unless your name is Darrelle Revis. Hence why I mentioned bringing in safety help in that kind of situation.

First half especially was weird play calling on D. They seemed to be rushing only 3 or 4 with the falcons keeping extra blockers and still ending up with guys on an island.

I think they were maybe playing like, some kind of convoluted-ass prevent defense. Weird. I hate Billy Davis.

Maxwell was a dog chasing a garbage truck, never gonna catch it and if he did he wouldn't know what to do with it. He got torched by Julio and Roddy White though doesn't loook like 60mil so far. It is one game I will let it slide, just an awful first game oh well.

I'm glad they pulled things a bit more together. During that first quarter I thought we were just witnessing the death of one P.Manning.

When they got into tempo and hurry up the O looked significantly better, but Manning's arm is gone. Throws a ton of ducks. Plus he has to try to put a little extra into his deep throws at the expense of touch/accuracy so he ends up overthrowing them. He'll be servicable/above average overall just because he's so Goddamn smart, but this is probably his last year.

After the first quarter things looked a little better. Will be interesting to see how things shake out in Denver since it sure looks like that team will have consistency issues.

The only notable thing that the Eagles accomplished during that game was breaking Romo's collar bone.

That's not a compliment.

It was a joke, after the game they interviewed him and asked about his injury, and he said he had a "broken collarbone and fractured clavicle" which made me guffaw.

Yeah Bradford hasn't been great but is catching a little too much crap, he made some great throws last night in big spots that were flat-out dropped.

As a semi-objective observer, I think Bradford has looked rusty ... but the Eagles' problems are much larger at other positions. The offensive line was utter shit the first few games, and have been mediocre in those since for the most part. The receivers, however, should be deeply troubling to coaches/fans. So many of the dropped passes have cost first downs, which kills momentum, etc. This goes beyond just guys "making plays," to a really basic and fundamental problem that is hurting the offense and team as a whole.

At least their D is much, much better.

Ha, no. I didn't watch the game (Bills-Jets? That's almost as masochistic as watching the Flyers), but I checked out some replays this morning and they were all on the same team. I'm not surprised, but you'd think they could have at least put one team in white pants. The Jets looked like they were wearing old Whalers cooperalls.

Putting the Bills in blue would have made the most sense, but nobody ever plans for colorblind people, so I'm not surprised.

That was my thought. I mean, when it comes to color blindness, red and green is the biggest red (grey in your case) flag color combo.
