Well, I'm significantly less nervous now :)

Three things still would be nice to happen tonight besides finishing off the game with the win:
1) Giroux completes the hat trick in the third.
2) Either New Jersey or Columbus win tonight, so we don't have to play the Pens
3) Blues lose and we get a better draft pick as a result.

First career regular season hat trick for Giroux too apparently.

We're confirmed to be playing Pittsburgh now. Gonna be a crazy series.

Would have much preferred to avoid Pittsburgh this year (we just don't matchup well), but, in the big picture, the combo of getting into the playoffs and STL missing the playoffs is pretty fucking sweet. Morgan Frost + mid-1st return for Schenn is pretty fucking epic.

It was the best case scenario. We just need to hope St. Louis doesn't win the lottery or come close like the Flyers did last year. If they do, that pick becomes protected, and we receive their 2019 first.

2 out of 3 ain't bad. Would have preferred not to face the Pens, but what can you do when the other teams just up and quit.

I'm late to the party here by a few days.

I give him the benefit of the doubt because he's learning to coach just as much as the players are learning to play. So if our young kids develop under him, I'm hoping Hak will get the hang of things soon enough.

Pairing him with Provorov helps. He can afford to take more chances on the offensive side of things when you have a player like Provorov as your backup. Reminds me of Carle-Pronger in that sense.

Ghost has definitely gotten better on the defensive side of his game too. Deserves a lot of credit for improving.

Pittsburgh series will be a big test for Hak and line matching/sheltering. Pens often play with their big 3 on 3 different lines. Right now essentially our 3 best forwards defensively on on the same line. Raffl has been great on the top line but we might have to spread the defensively skill out a bit more.

I think that was one of the Hextall's decision on hiring, Hak he wanted a coach to grow and develop with the majority of the team. The guy absolutely pisses me off to know end, but he is getting results. I'm not a fan of his usage of vets over the younger players. But, I do think it's better to underplay rookies than overplay them with regards to TOI.

Laughton fans on an open net, Couturier fans on a clear. Instead of 1-1 it's 0-2. And now a Penguin steps on a Flyers stick and it's a penalty. Fucking great.

A very Flyers start to this game. Elliot is checked out already. I think Ghost Giroux and Couts are minus 3 too.

Simmonds and Couturier have looked especially bad so far.

Elliott's coming off 20+ missed games due to injury. Neuvirth reinjured himself the game he returned. Mrazek played himself into the trash can.
But we have the best goalie prospect in all of hockey with Carter Hart, so here's hope that this guy picks up the slack in a year or two.

Also, if you motherfuckers had just won the last game of the season you and your 3-0-1 record against the Pens could have played them instead.

A lot of Devils fans and many on the broad wanted the Pens but I wasn't down with that at all. Our defense would get exposed by Crosby and Malkin, Kessel down low. I'm not too up to speed on Hart, I'll check him out. Hope he works out because you guys are always fun to play against and even though we're rivals, I love the Flyers playing style. Always have. You can have Schneider if he's toast here with Kinkaid entering his starter zone. I'm not sold on him being the guy but its headed that way. As for the last game, we sat a lot of guys but they had three days off anyways so I guess it was for injury prevention.

Good luck against the Pens. They are tough but its doable.

For some reason I made myself watch that whole shit show of a game. Somehow the 4th line was driving the play on most of their shifts, but they couldn't finish anything (Laughton, ugh). Sanheim probably played the best of all our D man which is refreshing. I'm glad that him and Lindblom are still in the lineup, but watch Hak scratch them for Weal and Hagg next game even though they were not anywhere near the worst players on the team last night.

And check this out:

I feel like you can't go back to Elliot after yesterday, he's clearly rusty and not 100%. He should have been pulled after the 3rd goal. Start Mrazek and hope he plays for a contract.

Metzler said in a tweet he thinks the Flyers may scratch Sanheim in favor of Hagg. If they do that and go back to Elliott, there's no doubt - Hakstol is thick.

Sanheim was literally our only dman who wasn't a minus last night, and had a strong game considering the dumpter fire around him. Gudas, Manning, MacD should be benched before him 100%. Even Provorov and Ghost looked really bad last night, but not Sanheim.
