How great was Sergei Federov?

Fedorov didn't coast in the regular season.
A couple things happened.
In general - offense in the NHL dried up.
On top of that, Scotty Bowman used Fedorov differently than Bryan Murray.

Fedorov's best performance was probably in 2002 -- when he should probably have won the Conn Smythe. He centered Yzerman, who could barely skate because of the knee injury that practically ended his career, and Shannahan, who's bad back made him slow and mostly ineffective. Fedorov owned all 200 feet of the ice on so many shifts. It was a clinic on how to be an NHL center.
