Jesus fucking christ.... There is really no explanation for how they can continually get no bounces, and every other team scores the fucked up goals off our dman's leg, or bouncing three times, or whatever the fuck it is every game.

People argue that the Habs take perimeter chances and don't get good opportunities... the xGF being over 5 for a single game, and only coming up with 2 blows that theory out of the water.

They're just not as dangerous as they seem by the numbers. I'd say this, they generated real good opportunities in the second period, a lot of loose pucks around the net that Anaheim got to first. Now if you wanna interpret that as lack of luck, it's up to you. I just think the habs play very desperately the times they've dominated during this trip, and that doesn't always make for the most "sober" scoring chances.

I'd say watching scoring chances and how they develop leads to a more accurate analysis.

I'm watching them, I've put myself through the torture. How they only got 2 goals tonight on those chances, it makes no fucking sense.

On the season.... they have 28 xG. They have put together scoring chances.... they have 13 goals.

Are they the most dangerous team in the NHL? Of course not, but no one expected them to be... but they are scoring less than half of what they should based on chances created. That is going to even out in time.

Just like they weren't the greatest team ever when they were 10-0-1 last year and scoring goals far above what their number of chances generated should have gotten them.... they are much better than a 1-6-1 team scoring half of what their chances should give them.

Price is far from playing to his potential, that is a major issue.

The breakout is far from perfect... but it is not at the level where there should be no offence. Its not as bad as youve made it out to be. We had very good zone entries, the ducks also couldn't clear their zone in the second, when they did dump it out we transitioned right back. We owned the puck the entire second period... they couldn't even get possession in our end. Two goals came out of 30 shots and tons of dangerous ones.

Is this team offensively challenged? of course.

Should it be shooting at less than half of the worst team in NHL history? Hell no.

I mean you want to sum up the shit bounces in the game....

Kevin Bieksa breaks his fucking stick, and the puck skids sideways and it sets up montour for a perfect one-timer into an empty net. Thats the shit luck this team has right now.

They've been scored on 33 times in 8 games. Price has been playing like he's full of hippo jizz.

You don’t start 1-6-1 and while being outscored 33-13 and blame bad luck. This is a dog shit team which is way too soft. Someone has to answer for this and Margoulis’s number is up. 6 years later team still has the same flaws and you get stuck with almost 9 mill in cap you can’t spend while the team is shitting the bed. This team doesn’t need tweaking, it needs major reconstructive surgery.

Bite the bullet - get rid of all the dogs hit talent hope for Dahlin.

I think the habs are going through a rough patch of luck (they are not this bad) and it affects their confidence and it spirals. That said, they are not very good either. They downgraded last summer and that is unacceptable. I lost faith in Margolis last summer. He was piss poor in his management of free agency. That said, the habs should be a 5 to 9 in the conference sorta team, not this bad. I expect the "luck" will eventually redress itself, but that won't make them a good team. They are a mediocre team going through a particularly rough patch.

The fact that they are bunch of soft undersized talentless team seems to indicate that Bergevin has built the same team he inherited.

I agree that was a bad break. I just don't think luck fully illustrates what's happening in the grand scheme of things. I'm sure the team is not as bad as this, but I don't think they're that much better. The defence is alarming (mainly the last two pairings), they not only suck in coverage, they drag down the forwards. That to me is a huge part of why this team is not scoring.

On scoring chances:

Pacioretty skates full speed towards the D, challenges them by cutting through the middle and takes a nice shot on the top of the slot. Yet Gibson makes an easy save since Pacs shot was seen from a mile away. Now in another sequence, ducks manage to sustain pressure and pass the puck around the crease like it's nothing and I think it's Vermette who fanned on an open net. That to me is way more meaningful than Pacioretty's shot and more telling of how a team plays collectively.

Of course the habs are in an absurd rut, but given the make up of the team and the way they're playing in the circumstances, to me it's no surprise they don't get those bounces. It's hard to score when you have no confidence or flow collectively. One thing they do well is forechecking in waves, but then who's there to burry pucks?

Also it seems there's a lot of talent in this league this year, a lot of good teams, both in the east and the west, that's why i'm starting to think that there's no way we can make the playoff at this point. Especially since it's mathematicaly harder to make the playoffs in the east since we have one more team competing for the last spot.

On a positive note, here are Mete's qualities:

-Great agility/speed
-Impressive IQ
-Great stickchecking
-Vision/poise

That kid will be a good one, he'll need physical presence by his side throughout his career, but damn he's smart and dynamic. Too bad he has a mediocre clapper, I don't think he'll score many goals. I see Brian Rafalski, not sure he'll reach 50 pts on the reg. though.

Here is where im at.

1) this roster is not this bad. They still are a solid playoff worthy roster but not good enough to win the cup.

2) as i argued at the trade deadline and the end of last season... bergevin has had 6 years and has been unable to take this good roster and make it better. He needs to go fuck off.

Mete is a fucking saving grace for this team after the summer fuck up of losing markov. Where would they be if mete is a 19 year old good prospect but not nhl ready.

The team is better than when he inherited it. We had no one near Lehkonen, Galchenyuk, Hudon, Mete and Drouin in the line-up. It was an old club with absolutely nothing close to a prospect except Gallagher.

We had price and subban and pacooretty all young and coming into their own. To waste thaf without getting a centre is criminal

The team still had Price and Pacioretty in their peak, Subban was replaced by Weber. Really the team has way more assets.

Smaler players often can't play with any patience. They create a turnover then shoot. They can't hold onto the puck long enough to make a play. The sort side pass, or the cross ice Perry goal that Anaheim got ? Mtl isn't even confident enough to have a player get open without the puck. I hope Hudon scores soon. I think he has to realize that his goals from the circle were AHL goals, to score in the NHL, most need to work their way closer in. For all of the #1 C talk, Bergevin didn't foresee nor deal with Plekanec's decline. He should've been allowed to gracefully slide down the depth chart , the slack picked up by someone drafted. Even if Galch was at C, the problem would be there.

My criticism is that while he couldn't force Radu to sign here if he preferred Texas' take home pay advantages, he should've known before the draft. He had no options by July 2. Other moves I'm fine with. Shaw is a really good 3rd line player who can play stretches with top end players when required. Mtl's lack of top end guys, guys are just good, not good when matched with complimentary players, lowers the value of guys like Shaw.

Right now, it's up to the players, I don't see help coming anytime soon, and any rebuild will be a 1 year on the fly deal.

As soon as Galchenyuk will be a permanent center, the team won't loose another game.
