I don't know about that. There have been some pretty riveting conversations about earwax quite recently.

I finished work on Friday. The moving trucks come Wednesday morning.

I'm trying to get everything packed up, but I'm hindered by the horrible bug I caught that has blessed me with explosive diarrhea and a compulsion to sleep 18 hours a day. Oh, and I totally lost my voice on Friday, which is actually kinda fun.

Re: Habs Broads: Mumu goes to work pt. 2

Post #522 by Dog » Mon Apr 15, 2019 9:24 am

So anywho, here is the lowdown. Our shenanigans had her flipping madly between “you take her” to “over my dead body would you take her”. That ended with her keeping my daughter Mon-Thurs and me Fri-Sun 35 out of 44 school weeks and basically flipping in the summer vaca. Comes to joint custody numbers, but one that works with our working 40kms appart.

The thinking was she would go to a private school in thr boondocks where they do an extra hour for school work in school. So, little school work in the week evenings other than some revision and shit. On weekends, we’d do more in-depth projects and do more fun stuff. This is basically the status quo. Not a bad deal for me. I can live close to work, not have to worry about the daily routine during school week and get most weekends and summer time.

But, I can get that anytime. We’re each entitled to joint custody and with where we work, that sort of set up is the most likely.

So, I thought my primary objective here wasn’t so much a separation than trying to fix a situation. The fix I thought/still think requires more buffer between my wife and daughter and my wife working on herself. The boondock private school would provide a buffer on weekdays and the wife is working hard on herself / and in any event has lost the narrative where she is in control and needs to push. Saw where that leads, this is end of the road stuff.

So, I figured I have nothing to lose by sticking around until the next school year. See how that goes. If it improves great, if not then I can still pull the plug and the worst case scenario would likely still be that joint custody split. Like I said, I won’t start a formal custody battle. Too destructive. I’ll let nature take its course, my daughter is nearly old enough to choose for herself if things are bad.

So there we were. However, I still needed from my wife to see an openness to discussing alternatives. Her preference to stay in the boondocks makes sense for her, but not for me and not for the family (as those two alone after school ain’t workin). So, I need to feel that she opens and considers options on the overall merits for all, not just her. I told her I want to see decisions based on merit after due consideration. She accepted to visit the school in Mtl and places. Of course, places need to be new, nice, free of dodgy neighbors, towards the east side for her commute, etc. That basically narrows it down to 2 neighborhoods in my mind. The east end of old mtl or new developments in Rosemont. Went to visit places in both over the weekend. Old mtl is condo land. Expensive condo land. To get a large condo in expensive condo land is expensive. Quite liked this one: https://mypaint.ca/listings/rue-de-la-c ... al-h2l0e2/. But expensive. Not just purchase price, but taxes are $12k/year and condo fees $800/month. We could do it, but would be tight -also have to send daughter to private school/maintain 2 cars, still want to travel, etc.

Rosemont makes most sense. Townhouses in new hoods go for 700-800k a pop. Small (that condo is bigger), but can get something renovated (or can renovate a larger one). That price we could pay cash and have no cash flow restraints.

The problem is that the east-end is mostly all du/multi plexes and she doesn’t want that. The neighborhood must also be new/clean. So, it’s new stuff in the city which means small and/or expensive. Anywho, still working on that. Maybe we’ll find something in Rosemont that works. Maybe we’ll decide to spring for that old mtl condo. Maybe we’ll stay put and see how that goes with less school work at home/wife letting go. Maybe we still end up splitting and doing that week/weekend split.

:dunno:

I bought my 4 bedroom for that price dog. You can find in my neck of the woods for less than a million if you look. And it's better than Old Mtl. That's just the new gay village. If she doesn't like "Les races" wait til she gets a look at what young gay guys are like these days.

Just put lil' dog in boarding school to protect her from Mrs. Dog and let her live out a sorta normal childhood (albeit rich kid existence).

Harder for her to get to east end. I thought TMR would be perfect initially. But, meh, whatevs. She REALLY likes her little suburbs.

And I’m sure she’s fine with ghey people, even brown people. Just as long as they dress clean and behave in a calm, polite manner.

Bottom line is she’s a scaredy-cat that wants safety/familiarity. Unfortunately, that’s exactly what she needs to overcome to “fix” herself. I think the primary emotion fuelling everything from control to intragissance is just fear. If I thought it was something else (greed, for example) I would never have put up with this. Put I’m also at the point we’re I don’t have that much faith that she can overcome her fear fuelled worldview. If not, it’s the same freaking end result. You just get control/inflexibility.

Mind you, she’s never been shook this deep or showed a recognition of the issue. I’m just scared (I think rightfully) that by accepting to stay in the boondocks it’s just too easy for her to fall back into old patterns.

It ain’t easy changing/saving people.

The fun thing is that I think we sorta match up with someone who’s strengths is our weakness. That’s fantastic if each opens to the others strenght. But, it’s all full of reaistance and crap as well. Much easier to be with a clone, but also makes you evolve less.

When I met her, I had a horrible time settling down. My instinct was just to continue hopping from adventure to adventure. But was also at an age that I wanted to settle down. The boredom of “ordinary work/housekeeping” seemed too much for me, but I knew that my path wasn’t sustainable long term and I needed an anchor. A realist. She was that. A devoted, committed, trustworthy, ultra-concrete realist type. It had a tremendous impact in getting me to settle down and make sense (in a long term, family oriented, sustainable sense). I didn’t change completely, tht wasn’t the goal, but it did get me to a nice balanced work/family/personal interest space. Happiness is in balance, I feels, and I got balanced.

She, however, still needs to do her bit. I mean she travels, etc. But still, it’s like she still needs to leave the protective little cocoon she feels by being in her comfort zone.

Great public school 2 mins walk, private primary school 2 mins walk, two of the top private schools 5 mins walk, metro Sauvé like 5 bus stops (bus every 5 mins)...

There's really nothing to do in this shithole, but it's probably the best place on the island to raise a family... all of the bungalows are bought by the likes of you and my sister, rich professionals of around 40..

1958? Carpet? Parquèterie? Did you see those fucken bathrooms? Bungalow? This is a complete gut job!

The other 25% is that I appear to be a prisoner of Terrebonne.

No, from my understanding of reality. Wich is special, much like Nic understands hockey on another level.
