Seth Jones - Rudy's Story Continues

And also the Habs, or whatever. Are they good this year?

why limit it to serious health issues?

It's too bad all the people that could really run the Habs are busy doing talk radio, writing blogs or posting on message boards.

You said you were joking and i accepted it and just moved on.

Sorry for not acknowledging that... but Joe, Ive never held back if i had an issue with someone. So just by moving on i thought you knew i didnt have an issue with you. My bad on not saying that.

Im on another board that actually talks hockey and i saw a similar post there with a guy arguing we should take Cooley cause he's Denis Savard and Wright is Doug Wickenheiser. And that guy is actually serious that a 41 year old draft matters.... so sorry for not getting that you were joking on the miroschnichenko and kostitsyn comparison

Wright seems like the smart choice
Cooley the entertaining choice
Slafkovsky the Brady Tkachuk choice

It says that he's got about the same chances of becoming an NHLer/star as Rantanen did on his draft day. But so did a ton of busts, so uh...?

405 players have been drafted in the past 30 years that had similar production at a similar age at the draft and 10 of them thus far have turned into stars. Rantanen is the very best one of the bunch.

It means few draft players become as good as Ratanen and therefore Slaf is bust.

In the words of McBeth - big wingers like Slaf have a good chance of being poofs.

You don’t have to go back very far. Liane and Purjujavi - 2 euro’s that had better pedigrees and still aren’t the players they were projected to be.

Laine is pretty good though. 30+ goal pace 5 out of 6 years in the league.

But he’s a poof. They Jets traded him for Dubois but they had to sweeten the deal by adding a pretty good player.

Wright has the work ethic and character traits Hughes is looking for.

Laine is a 30-40 goal scorer.

Puljujarvi I can give you.

Wright is a 6'1 C

We drafted a 6'1 C who was a poof

We drafted a 6'2 C who was a poof

Does that make Shimmy Shimmy Wright a poof? I want to say yes, but no.

That said, your comparison doesn't prove at all that Wright is the right choice, or even a good one for that matter.

I'm going to reduce myself to that type of thinking and throw this at you :

The fact that the guy projected to go #2 and challenging for #1 has scored like 10 goals all year should tell you all about Shame Wright.

Wright started slow and of course that is to be expected as he lost the entire previous season due to COVID.

Still he was the highest scorer of anyone who didn't play in 2020-21.

And once he got the rust off.... his second half of the season was at 1.8 PPG. He was on pace for 120 points which is in line with most first overall picks.

The context of that slow start shouldn't be missed.

And the fact is that he did miss a year of development, I think he can get even higher now that he's playing full time.

I agree with Beaker. You should convince management to take Slaf and not risk another slow start with Wright. I guess the Devils will have to take on that risk.

This generation’s Bobby Smith is nothing to sneeze at, Retarder.

That comparison triggers me more than the n-word does.

It's too bad all the people that could really run the Habs are busy doing talk radio, writing blogs or posting on message boards.

Now, Lajoie is an imbecile, a cretin and a plagiarist, who to use author Dany Laferrière's deliciously withering expression, "lives beyond his intellectual means."

Wright stinks of David Legwand. Good player, but expect more of a high pick

Wright has the highest floor of any prospect available.

Wright also has the highest ceiling of any prospect available.

This is a no brainer.

I’m not sure about that. I see him topping out as a 70pts C with decent two way play.

Koskislav has the potential to become a game breaking winger, but the bust factor is much higher.

I find that the top 5 is pretty similar all in all. I wont be jumping out of my chair for any of them.
