I had an ECG done as part of a checkup and the thing came back showing that I may have had a heart attack (Myocardial infarction) in the past! Will do another test (on treadmill) in a few weeks to confirm (may be a false positive). I never noticed anything, but apparently it's possible to have it with few symptoms. It would be just like me to have a heart attack and not notice (was probably too engrossed in a Tarkovsky film at the time).

And I always thought that mcphee would be the first to go!

A little while ago they must have gotten a lot better at detecting heart attacks and strokes. Both my parents had checkups a few years ago and they both said the doctor told them the same thing as they told you. I gather it's fairly common.

but it'd really suck for my wife. i might be taking a new role in another company shortly that'd be the next step in my career. it'd be just like me to die and leave her to raise two kids on her own without a husband having the potential to make a shitload of cash.

Some 20ish% (they aren’t sure) of heart attacks are of this silent variety (no/little symptoms). They are no different than the symptomatic variety in terms of danger and damage they can produce. May just have been a false positive on the ECG, stress test with cadiologist in a few weeks should tell more. Dr said it’s largely (70%ish) genetic. Have an uncle that died of heart failure at 45. I smoked for 10-15 years (like from ages 15-30 with a few years of non smoking in there) and was overweight for like a decade. If it was indeed a heart attack, I likely have dead/scarred heart tissue and a genetic disposition towards it. Dr put me on preventive meds until we get definitive results. Bit of a WTF to find out you may have had a heart attack and not even noticed!

If you'd of given the doctor all of the relevant information, I'm sure he'd of recommended shorter posts.

My daughter’s neuropsy evaluation sounded awfully close to my own profile. Had, by coincidence, my annual checkup the next day. Was on my mind so I talked to her about it. She said intelligence and adhd are both highly hereditary so not surprising that I was similar. Said I may have same kind of mild adhd. She told me to fill out some self test questionnaire and pass an ecg (as the meds are stimulants). Ecg shows I may have a heart condition and prior heart attack. If that is the case, I only found out because of my daughter’s neuropsy exam. As in, without knowing, I wouldn’t go on any preventive measures and could just have died on a treadmill someday. Daughter’s neuropsy exam could well have saved/prolonged my life. Life is funny.

I had angina attacks 20 years ago. They said I had the beginnings of arterial disease, put me on cholesterol meds and I seldom have them anymore. The doctor told me we could stop our annual appointments and just have our family dr. monitor my annual blood tests and cardiogram. 1998-2000 were crappy years for me, I had a weird fragile feeling, but I think a lot of that was me worrying. Overall, I'm much better than I was then.

I still can't describe it well. I'd go for a walk and down the road where it elevates a bit, I'd get breathless feeling, If I exerted myself, I'd get a feeling across my chest, then I'd get panicky. I've carried a little nitro spray in my pocket since, used it maybe times in 20 years but I can't honestly say if I needed it or not.

OOOH yeah life goes on, long after the thrill of Vinny is gone

It's too bad all the people that could really run the Habs are busy doing talk radio, writing blogs or posting on message boards.

Now, Lajoie is an imbecile, a cretin and a plagiarist, who to use author Dany Laferrière's deliciously withering expression, "lives beyond his intellectual means."

If you have some non dogo vague questions that need answers I could ask my sister. Lemme know.

Get off near my place and I'll drive you the rest of the way. We can pick up Artie, Mumu, we'll have a grand time. Should cut costs to about 208.

I'll probably have to go home at some point as well. That will be more monies.

Or I could live in a locker in the metro like Gary Coleman in On The Right Track because I think overall we...are on the right track.

From my understanding, once deprived of oxygen, the affected tissue dies, atrophies. You continue in live with a permanently scarred heart. A wound that never heals. You don’t fix a broken heart, you learn to live with it. Until you die. Maybe even from your broken heart.

Yolo!
