Then again, some diminutive players are playoff warriors and some big guys disappear. There's no straight correlation here.

I say we give skill 64% and size 36% weight in ratings.

You just need to have enough size for it not to be a factor against you. if your top centremen has size, that's a huge +, it makes a big difference on both sides of the rink. That's the hardest player to acquire in the NHL, no team trades their big skilled Cs... well we did trade Lars, but watevs. :danson:

But yeah, skill should be the #1 criteria of recruitment, but more specifically for us, players that have the skill to protect the puck and manoeuvre in tight areas. The battle of the neutral zone is important, the team that wins it is likely to win the game. But most of the time, no team wins it. So the game is mostly played by winning puck races and strength battles along the boards, creating shots from inside the "home". And that hasn't changed and wont change. Then if you add a PP with a 20% efficiency, you're in business.

Unless you are a generational player- 1C or 1/2 D require some size. Positions are so taxing physically.

I have been thinking of a Price and Weber to EDM for Draisaitl, Nurse, Talbot - might need some side pieces.

Cap wise it works

Stauffer talked about the Canadiens again briefly, and wondered if Max Pacioretty was “as good as gone.”

“I think he’ll probably get traded, yes,” agreed Friedman.

I think you will see a pretty significant trade involving a D man coming into Toronto this summer and MTL will Get the player down the middle they desperately need, Through trade or free agency. Should be a fun off season.

John Jaeckel

Personally, I've heard nothing (though I've asked) on the Crawford and Toews rumors. Will note however, I do know Lou Lamoriello (linked to NYI front office position) is a HUGE Crawford fan, has tried to acquire him in the past. Stay tuned.

Do they even have anything we want? Hanifin's not a turd so I don't see us going after him.

On defence I like Hanifin or Slavin, either would be our first pair LD.

RD Faulk and Pesce are also good but not really needs.

Prospect Martin Necas would be nice.

I'd take their second overall pick too.

Jake Bean has talent.

Nicolas Roy, Julien Gauthier, Roland McKeown, Haydn Fleury in their farm system.

Jeff Skinner is still a good winger.

If they are in fire sale mode and their Owner is half retarded, i'd take any of those pieces.

There's a deal to be made with Carolina. One of Slavin or Hanifin for Pacs would make sense.
