Maybe they don't want the rest of the contract? Three years left. Maybe GM's hedging their bets on waivers instead of a trade.

if he gets picked up on waivers, Ottawa does not have to take back a contract (salary)

So they are broke? :donger:

Get futures or a late draft pick. I'm surprised no one would offer that.

He's a useful player I think, but he hasn't had as much success in Boucher's system. He's a good 3rd liner who can play everywhere in the lineup, so $3.25M is right where he should be. With Pageau out, they need him right now. This is clearly another Melnyk decision.

Smith is a 4th liner that has eeked out a pretty good career after being taken as an overager in the draft.

He's useful and can step up to a 3rd liner in a pinch, but is totally overpaid, but then what do I know I'm a Jets fan.

The Sens are so ugly that even the coach and their number 1 center are openly critizing management in the media. I don't remember seeing that.

I'm not even enjoying it.

I was just going to say that baseball stepped in whenMarge Schott praised Hitler and the nba kicked out that guy in LA who didn’t want his gf hanging out with black guys

I don’t think Ottawa is in a situation where the league steps in. Trading for Duchene, realising you were wrong then re-building is an example of scatter brained planning but they decided to strip down. They think they have a nucleus of kids to build on but I think they’ll be ruined before the team gets good.

I think a big part of the dysfunctionality comes from the ownership being completely disconnected to the locker room and the fanbase. The lack of vision in hockey ops is just as bad.

I agree, I just don't think it's at a level that requires action from the league.. These things get solved by the marketplace, or they should be. Even if they surprise this year, fans aren't buying in. If Melnyk has to sell because the market hates him, that's how I could see it unfolding.

As bad as it has looked lately, they aren't even in the same stratosphere as the Ballard Leafs. That was some historic shit. Melnyk can't even approach that.

Yeah, but Schenn was their top producer last year and he's on a really nice contract. Frost and Farabee are pretty decent prospects though. I didn't realize Frost lit it up so much last year.

Looks good for both parties I would say.

Now Lehtera's contract's gonna be kaboomed because legal reasons and Gritty Phil will laugh all the way to Ilya Bryzgalov's bank.

When the Sens will loose 23 straight games and Douchesne starts challenging the owner to a fist fight, do you think we could snatch him from the small dirty hands of Ménélik?

Domi - Douchesne - Drouin
Tatar - Danolt - Gallagher
Lehkonen - Kotkaniemi - Armia
Hudong - Peca - Byron

Riely - Weber
Mete - Petryangelo
Ouellet - Juulsen
Alzner
