I'd say they're in a battle with Montreal, Florida, and Philadelphia for a single wild card spot, so I wouldn't bet on 1 in 4 odds.

I like their chances if they get good goaltending. I do not think they will get good goaltending.

Yeah, thats my worry. Schnieds looked good at the Worlds, but NHL season is rigorous. Have to see if he holds up. Blackwood is good, but not ready to be a full time starter, nor lead a team into the playoffs. Used to be nice to never have to worry about goaltending during a regular season. Playoffs were a different story. Marty shit the bed a lot. That Hurricanes game. :why:

Blackwood hasn't put up decent AHL numbers yet. Maybe the 20 games last year in the NHL were for real, or maybe they were a fluke.

Bingo is terrible though. I doubt prime Lundqvist could put up decent numbers there. I think his 20 game stint was probably 75 percent legit.

I have Washington, Pittsburgh and Carolina as in.

I have the islanders, rangers, and columbus as possibles... but likely not making it.

I think its jersey philly montreal and florida for 2 spots.

Shredz. He’d be interested provided we think the devils will make the playoffs this season.

100% the viles Devils are making the playoffs this season.

They are better than the Habs and play in a weaker division.

They're pretty comparable to the Habs, except with Schneider instead of Price.

I see no reason for the Isles to regress. They've basically replaced Lehner with Varlamov, and their young players should all continue to improve. They still have the best coach in the league, so I'm counting them in.

Of course there could always be a team struck down by injuries, so two spots could be available.

Hoping the Pens fall off, so we can sell the farm for Malkin. I want to see a washed up Hockey Hall of Fame and International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame centre play for my team again before I die in three-hundred years.

I dont expect 2019-20 isles goalies... whether it was lehner and greiss or varlamov and greiss to be as good as they were last year. It seems a career year they are unlikely to repeat.

I also.see a team that went on a huge PDO bender last year. Teams that go on PDO benders are unlikely to repeat them and usually fall hard.

The hell do you guys think is wrong with Subban? He's horrible. I don't expect him to be Stevens on defense, but his pinches are horrendous, his refusal to shoot a howitzer. Its just weird. He can't read plays if his life depended on it. Always skating back to get in position causing multiple goals so far. Single handedly lost us a couple games.

My only thought is that he just lacks passion for the game. He shouldn't be falling apart this much at only 30. I get the team overall sucks, but he's definitely been a big disappointment.

Yeah, his mind definitely isn't 100 percent concentrated on hockey right now. I don't expect players to be hermits outside of the rink, but hes a big social media rat. Always posting stuff with Vonn. His downslide coincides with their relationship path.

Like I have $20M in the bank, and I'm not risking my health anymore, so I'll go through the motions, play out my contract, fool enough people to sign another, then Bobby Ryan it, and enjoy my cash retired at 32.

My pal spent a lot of time with a 4th line player and he spoke a lot about how they grabbed their jobs and what they did to keep them, it’s a good gig and while they don’t
Reach 2M, they can manage quite well. The last thing a bottom of the roster wants is to get more media attention than someone else. Kind of the opposite as these 2nd contract guys

If passion for the game means you'd risk your future well being to score 10 more goals a year, I'd say your priorities were pretty messed from the beginning.

Priority for any player should be: 1) make bank, 2) stay healthy, 3) enjoy life/family , 4) retire healthy, 5) have a long career, 6) Stanley cup 7) hhof.

And NHL players getting paid that much should have some passion for the very game that is making them those duckets. He's living off old glory.

He has 1, 2, 3 and will likely get 4 and 5. Is it too much to ask someone making 9 mill a year to at least try and play like he used to?

No ones asking him to go play Infantry in Syria.

I think that’s a bit simplistic. Guys dip in play for a lot of reasons, probably more than one. Fear is a great motivator, and when deep down you know that you’re ok no matter what....for some guys it’s not the same. For others, they can relax and play better w/o financial concerns. Some guys are weighed down by their contracts.

He can now because he's made a ton of bread and has a guaranteed contract. Its like Bobby Ryan, Perry, Rick Nash.

Its not like he's the worst thing on earth, and he does put forth some effort, but something is missing. Perhaps youre right and its his ego has been shattered.

Fear is a great motivator, and when deep down you know that you’re ok no matter what....for some guys it’s not the same. For others, they can relax and play better w/o financial concerns. Some guys are weighed down by their contracts.

I think its a mixture. Lack of control over where he is playing. And all of those factors you wrote could weigh down someones passion to play day in and day out.

He was a product of Michel Therrien's system

OOOH yeah life goes on, long after the thrill of Vinny is gone

It's too bad all the people that could really run the Habs are busy doing talk radio, writing blogs or posting on message boards.

Now, Lajoie is an imbecile, a cretin and a plagiarist, who to use author Dany Laferrière's deliciously withering expression, "lives beyond his intellectual means."

...as serious as a poutine shortage in Chicoutimi during a curling bonspiel...

He's not even on our first powerplay unit lol - our 2PP has zero points all season. I dont exactly know what Shero is waiting for before he fires our coach. They just signed him to an extension. Cheap owners probably dont want to pay a new one, and for Hynes to sit on his ass.

Subban was never that good and always had a low hockey IQ. His skillset was all physical attributes and athleticism. He was never a fast skater but he was very agile. Defensively he had the biggest brain cramps I've seen a regular NHLer have in my life time. Obsessed by himself off the ice.

He's not the kind of player that gets better with age.

If you ever want to tell a cautionary tale about how a team works and how it can go from hearts and roses to all fucked up, go with PK and Max from when they arrived until the day Max left
