Karlsson has always turned it on in the second half. I just can’t rule them out...

Then again. They have zero depth so maybe?

Yeah sometimes when things look awful and they have no pressure since people write them off, they may run. I can see them winning 8 of 10 then leveling off to .500....but still improving too much get get a great pick.

Would be nice though if they sit bottom 5. Unreal chance for ottawa this year. They need to lose as many games as they can. It should be a truly enjoyable October next year with a shockingly deep team of young players showing up.

It would be amazing if the sharks really struggle to the end. In all honesty ottawa fans deserve it after watching the same thing happen to Colorado.

I would bet that Ottawa will nab at least another 2nd, and possibly another first in the draft. With prospect dep and multiple seconds, the draft may be worth watching

If San Jose keeps getting some solid goaltending from Dell, they'll rise a bit because there's still some talent there even if Burns and Vlasic are dragging down the defence. But the odds of them getting into the playoffs are currently between 2 and 3 percent, and that's without taking Couture's absence into account - which for an old team that is playing poorly, is actually their first significant injury this year.

It's early to declare it a win, and doesn't absolve Dorion and co of their mishandling of the situation, but the Karlsson trade looks far better now than it did at the time. Norris and Balcers are much better prospects now than at the time, Tierney and Demelo are real assets even if not ones we keep long-term (although I'm among those who would keep Demelo for a few years), and the first is looking nice. Norris' great season is especially encouraging.

Credit where it's due, a lot of things to be optimistic about with the Sens rebuild right now. All those picks, especially if we get another first for Pageau, are great capital even if we want to flip some of those prospects for NHL talent in a couple years.

The concern is retention and extension - the Dorion and Murray regimes have not only struggled to retain top talent, but to identify the mid-level players worth extending. We have to learn from the mistake of signing a guy like Cowen or Greening but selling Zibanejad. Hopefully Colin White gets his shit together and doesn't join the former group in a year's time.

Final note, it's still kind of amazing to me that Jared Cowen just didn't play hockey again after we dealt him. He wasn't a good pick, especially with the direction of the game, but it's not like stay-at-home guys are gone entirely. FFS, Mark Borowiecki is on pace for 30 points.

Cowan got in an injury arbitration case and lost to the leafs. He had huge injury issues once drafted, and had the mental game of a jar of stale marmite.

Feels good watching the ducks. Imagine being this bad like Ottawa is but watching your players get older and worse.

Good loss. Need some bad goaltending here soon.

This team is actually going to be good again. I'm a little worried with Dorion in charge, but I think he's on the plan pretty good. It would be nice to have a real senior GM type running the trade/signings end of things in two years and Dorion running player development, but that probably will never happen.

Melnyk is scary and things have been too quiet from his side and the NHL's. The attendance is embarrassing and yes I get it, people hate Melnyk, but I don't know what the answer is if he doesn't sell. Gotta feel for the players trying to care in front of a half empty dead building all year. Road games must be more enjoyable.

On ice, this is going to be a really good team in a couple years. So crucial to lose every game though, I'd be tampering with that if I was Melnyk. Trade everyone and pick up guys on waivers to fill the spots.

Hogberg and Nillson have been too good. They've earned the team probably 12 points in the standings. Nice to see as I though Hogberg was a bust, and I do like Nillson long term as a 1a-1b type vet, but damn, just have a month of .880 SV% please boys.

Jaycee Hawerchuk or something like that, plucked off of waivers. A speedy center. Looks like a poor man's Pageau if you want to call that foreshadowing.

Guessing this is about not blocking people next year (after bringing boro back.)

Seems like the plan is to graduate what... 6-10 guys from the AhL team next year?

I've never seen anyone in the organizations history skate with the puck like Thomas Chabot. He has such a great long stride and a long reach, it's art watching him skate in 3 on 3 OT. His last few games he's skated well and is really stepping up a lot. Such a smooth stride and surprisingly good hands. Will be a treat to see him play in 4 years.

Turns out it was the bottle. Maybe one of the better ones to try and move on from, in the list of what could it be..

He seems like a really nice guy and this may actually get him playing more loose and relaxed now that it's all out. He speaks well, is always honest and hard not to root for. His time in Ottawa is a disaster which started day one when he was thrown to the wolves as Aflredsson's replacement after the bungled contract talks.

Here's hoping his last few games in Ottawa are at least enjoyable for him. I worry on his foot-speed, but hopefully he's in a better head space.

https://ottawasun.com/sports/hockey/nhl/ottawa-senators/garrioch-bobby-ryan-opens-up-about-his-battles-with-alcohol-and-his-determination-to-resume-playing?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1582310698

Ryan said he feels at peace with himself.

“A lot of what I’ve been through is very public, not just in this regard, but with familiar stuff,” Ryan said. “It’s not a catalyst for it but it’s a lot of it. I think for a very long time I just kind of put my head down and never dealt with any of it. Things just continued to escalate for the last three years. My therapy is going to continue. It’s not fun, but it’s something I need to let go and put in my past.

“I’ve started to do that but I feel great and at peace with a lot of it but I’ve still got to let go some more of it.”

I've seen a lot of overpaid and underachieving NHLers over the years, but none of them were as likable as Bobby Ryan. Whatever the future holds, I wish him nothing but the best. Though I could do without a few of his fringe political views.

Pageau to NYI for a conditional 2020 1st, a 2020 2nd, and joke conditional 2020 3rd.

Namestnikov to Colorado for a 2021 4th. Namestnikov was acquired with Ottawa's 2021 4th, so, taking draft order into account, Dorion flipped him for a slight loss.
