Probably for the best, so he gets back to 100%. Not like we're facing good teams anyway.

Do we even want 1st in the Atlantic to meet the Rangers or are we better off in 2nd to face the Bruins? I'm thinking the latter...

Also who gets home ice, if the wild card has more points than the 1st place team?

Home ice is based on the wild card standings until the third round when it is suddenly based on points alone. : )

You won't have to worry about that.

According to Bob McKenzie, Colin White and the Senators are far apart on a deal. The problem is that the Senators want White to sign an Amateur Try Out contract, play the rest of the season in Bingo, and then sign a ELC in the offseason.

You really can't just give a kid a roster spot so you ensure he doesn't sign with someone else in two years. Team is fighting for both first and a playoff spot still, sends the wrong message to team if you emphasizing long term to the team itself.

I also understand hey he wouldn't sign it. I'm sure he will be worth something if they do have to do a trade and sign. But I bet you this will all blow over.

Colin White and Binghamton is a match made in heaven if you sit down & think about it for half a second. I'vw followed this prospect, and quite frankly, I was surprised he is, in fact, not from Watertown.

Mr White could also be a massive star in Belleville, depending on how fast that franchise move happens. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is a guy that will do great kicking the shit out of Bridgeport on a Tuesday night. He's an American built to tear shit up in the AHL. Personally, I'd let him do that until the Sens roster reassessment comes during play-off time. I'd give him a chance because I've often seen what rookies can do in a game 3 setting, but he should by no means be guaranteed a roster spot in this surprisingly packed line-up.

Peter O'Leary, the former Chief Marketing Officer for the Senators, has filed a lawsuit against the Senators and Melnyk for wrongful dismissal. According to the complaint, the lower attendance this season has led to a 10% budget cut to all departments, reduced net pay, late bonus payments, and staff reductions - including the janitors which meant that the “professional staff were required to clean offices and empty garbage bins.”

http://ottawacitizen.com/news/local-news/former-ottawa-senators-executive-sues-melnyk-team-for-1-55m-alleges-discord-behind-the-scenes

So, not only do the Senators have the smallest hockey operations staff in the NHl and they can't even afford to hire enough janitors. Things are going great for franchise.

Colin White has signed a 3 year ELC. According to Brent Wallace, he will join the team in Detroit.

Also, because he now has a professional contract and he wasn't on the Bingo roster before the AHL trade deadline, he can no longer play in Bingo this season. It's games for Ottawa or nothing.

Zibanejad with the OT winner. I think Brassard is better right now, but in the long run we're gonna lose that trade.

The Artist Formerly Know as Zib-train always showed up for those Montreal games. For that I wish him well.

Brassard is a fine forward and an asset in Ottawa's dynamic offense, but that trade was a giant L from the day it happened, and we all knew it. The reaction on this very forum was lukewarm at best. The common parlance in the Sens Nerd·O·Sphere™ is that Mika Zibanejad is a supple and nubile 24 year-old, while Derrick Brassard is as old as the pyramids.

In the end it's all bullshit, as they are both marginal top 6 forwards. We lost five years in the career of a perpetual second liner. Boo-fucking-hoo.

Honestly, if it gets that bad we can probably bring back my man Milan Michalek.

What really concerns me is how Stone and Pageau are both invisible right now. Burrows too. To me, those are the guys that need to step up.

I'd be interested to see what a guy like Wingels could do, were he to be substituted into Viktor Stalberg's spot on the roster right now. I don't know. Might be interesting.

Can Chris "Iron Hands" Kelly still play?

I don't think you can take out Vic Stalberg. I think he's been pretty good. High speed, high energy up that right side as it seems to be the teams mandate to chisel pucks around the slow Boston D on the left side and skate. For that Stalberg has been very good.

I too do like Tom Wingels and he edge that he brings. This team really is too deep, but they'll probably have an injured forward next round. Pyatt is concussed as was obvious the second he got hit in Game 5. So that will free up a spot.

I may play White believe it or not over Kelly. It's a toss up. Kelly is a good man, but long term I may feed White some valuable experience on a fourth line role that will pay off next October.

Hard to say, don't want to rock the boat too much on a rookie for veteran move.

People often make jokes about Daniel Alfredsson's Jofa helmet that he wore early on in his career, but the real standout in this picture, at least to me, are those radically 90's Jofa gloves. Wow, that's a design that did not age well at all.
