GDT: Senators vs Rubin Carter

Post #1 by senate » Tue Jan 30, 2018 9:56 pm

There was a game and the Senators lost. They weren't awful though, just not good; I guess that makes it a moral victory.

So yeah, anyways, what's new with you? Seen any good movies lately?

I'm perfectly ok with losing and not being awful at this point. Actually, that's probably the best result, even better than being good and winning.

My family's attorneys advice my attorney that they are fine.

I haven't seen any new movies lately either. I think the last one I saw was The Last Jedi. I didn't like it. Probably because I was always one of those weird kids that liked Luke better than Han or Vader. In hindsight, I should have listen more to Mark Hamil's warnings before the movie came out.

Have you been watching Star Trek Discovery? First, the Mirror Dimension and now an alternate timeline? That's a pretty big indication that the writers don't like the show's original setting. Hopefully, they use the time travel stuff as an opportunity to reboot the series. I think Michelle Yeoh would make a Trek series captain; in the pilot episode there were glimmers of a Picard-esque vibe to her character.

I HAVE IGNORED THE ST DISCOVERY PART OF YOUR POST BECAUSE I HAVEN'T WATCHED ANY OF THE 2018 EPS. WE ARE DOING FREE 7 DAY TRIALS OF CBS ALL ACCESS TO WATCH THE SHOW. I CREATED AN ACCOUNT FOR MYSELF IN NOV TO BINGEWATCH THE FIRST HALF ON A 7-DAY TRIAL. WE'LL DO THE SAME WHEN THE SEASON IS OVER. FUCK CBS ALL ACCESS. I DON'T PIRATE TV BUT I'M NOT GETTING SUCKERED INTO THIS SHIT.

I also haven't seen a new movie since Last Jedi. I like it though. I mean, I had a lot of problems with it. The B and C storylines were crippled by major flaws. But I thought the Rey-Kylo storyline worked great, I totally bought into it. And I liked the use of Luke. I thought they made much better use of him than they did of Han Solo in Ep 7. And of course Mark Hamill, whatever his own reservations, really owned his screen time, unlike Harrison Ford who really mailed it in for the paycheque.

By the end I was really sad that Carrie Fisher is dead; they clearly set it up for her to finally play a major role in Ep 9. I think that will be the biggest problem I'll have with 9 when it comes out - wondering about the Leia role that might have been.

That is a very well-made fan video though.

I saw Churchill last weekend. It gave me a different perspective what it was like for Winston Churchill to manage the war.

Anyway tank mode is well underway at this point. I'm not sure there's much else to break down.
