If this is the cost for Vatanen then I'm happy we never traded for him.

Vatanen has sucked this year, too.

Henrique for Vatanen seems about right to me, second line center for a puck moving top 4 D.

Neither my NHL app nor the web site has any scores or links to watch games. I hate them.

TheScore is the best one for me.
As long as you avoid the "news" section for each sport. The titles of articles seem like ones id see on boredz.

I still think it's hilarious that Edmonton could have come out of the 2015 draft with Barzal and McDavid, or that Boston could have had Barzal and Kyle Connor but instead the Oilers opted for Griffin Reinhart and the Bruins took: Zborill, Debrusk and Senyshyn. :donger:

Jury is still out on the Bruins picks man. All three will get NHL looks and nothing about them says they won't contribute.

That's fine, but none of them have impact player upside whereas Barzal and Connor already look like impact players, and were the consensus picks at the time so it's not really a hindsight thing either.

I recall Hunter talking about Barzal in the same conversation as Marner at 4th overall. Some scoffed.

Don't remember that, it was more of a pick outside the top 5 for me. I always have a bias toward pass first centers.

How serious he was is open to question. I can't seem to dig it up, but it was an offhand but unprompted remark during an interview about the draft. Hunter said something like, "and of course there's the Barzal kid too."

I found it. It was a Leafs Lunch interview and he was asked if there was any bias toward Marner at 4:

We do what’s best for the organization. That’s the first thing. Whoever the best player is we will take. There’s other players, too – Lawson Crouse, Noah Hanifin, Pavel Zacha, Mathew Barzal .. Barzal’s been injured all year and he hasn’t got the accolades he should. I saw him last week and he’s very impressive also.

He didn't say "kid", but Babs probably did.

Just watched the clip of McClellan having a practice freak out. I can't see how he doesn't get fired in the next 15 games. He's outing players in the media, yelling at practice etc. That doesn't fly long with pros

Vegas' record is 11-2-0 at home and 6-7-1 on the road.

Why would they have such a strong advantage at home........

According to Melnyk, Senz could relocate as an option if everything went wrong.
Now it's likely a simple bluff to make people come to games. But having been to a game in Ottawa myself, I was amazed how the arena isn't actually in Ottawa.
Ownership doesn't' want to put any more coin into the dumpster, so a new arena near the city centre likely won't happen.
What to do, what to do..

Getting to Kanata sucks both my car and bus. Having a piece of shit owner who nickels and dimes the franchise isn't any way to inspire confidence in the team from the public and I think that has a lot to do with things. The best case scenario for the Sens and the league is to force Melnyk out, keep the team in Ottawa and move the arena downtown.

#MelnykOut is trending across Canada on probably the only night this season when anyone will care about the Sens. That's nice, because threatening to take the team out of Ottawa is a bullshit thing to do when half the city isn't getting paid regularly and your arena is in a farmer's field an hour outside of town.

That fan that gave him his liver probably feels pretty stupid right now. Ottawa Sens were that close, then some fucking dork gives up half his liver to keep this piece of human shit alive.

Alternate viewpoint: without Melnyk sinking tens of millions into the team and often spending to the cap to try to win a cup, this team would have become the Quebecor Nordiques back in the lockout.

It pisses me the fuck off. I thought they were destined to be shit after Sweeney took over but they've quietly drafted some good college players in the later rounds, namely Danton Heinen. Also hit a home run with the McAvoy pick, getting a legitimate top pairing D in the middle of the first round. Torey Krug has also taken a big step for them the last couple of years playing key minutes and Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak is the best line in the league.

The scary part is, had they nailed those 2015 picks and picked at least two of Connor, Barzal or Chabot they are probably in the discussion for league's best team. Thank god Sweeney blew those picks, although DeBrusk looks like he'll be a decent middle six winger going forward.

Going to be a tough match-up if the Leafs play them in the playoffs..can't handle losing to them again, I hate every Boston team.

With how the standings currently sit, I'd actually be a bit surprised if the leafs didn't make the post-season, aswell as the first round matchup not being against the bruins. I checked out the schedule and next game against them is the first saturday of February.

okay man, just settle down. you underestimate what losing Chara will do to them. And Bergeron is currently overperforming and will drop off in a couple of seasons. Fully expect the same from Marchand. Both play a style that isn't conducive to longevity.

I don't think it is a stretch at all to say that one of the best teams in the league could be a dynasty with the addition of two more high end young players. I also think you are overestimating the impact the current version of Chara has on the Bruins, he is still an important piece, but he is not what he was, and unlike before the Bruins actually have pieces in McAvoy, Krug and Carlo to help ease the transition.

Yes, it's a stretch. Unless you're using dynasty very loosely.

Chara still leads the team in icetime. And having him is like having a vet goaltender (a security blanket). He's the heart-and-soul of the team. And few young d-men get the luxury of playing on a pairing with someone like Chara (as McAvoy does).

C'mon man.

Dynasty in a cap world, at least for me, is basically what the Kings, Hawks and Pens did, which is win multiple cups in a 3/4 year span.

As for the second part, I actually think the biggest luxury is playing behind Bergeron-Krejci-Backes, the Bruins get incredible defensive play out of their forwards. Maybe moreso than any other team in the league.

What are the chances of leafs taking a look at Jack Johnson. Just under $5m and is UFA, apparently wanting out of CBJ with his minutes dropping. I personally don't see it as a good fit but D-men don't just grow on trees.

Probably couldn’t find a place in Toronto because he will fail all of the credit checks.

Their lineup today:

Smith - Karlsson - Marchessault
Perron - Haula - Neal
Leipsic - Eakin - Tuch
Lindberg - Bellemare - Carrier

Schmidt - McNabb
Theodore - Engelland
Hunt - Miller

Fleury

This annoys me so bad. There's like a half dozen players in this lineup that aren't NHL calibre. William Karlsson has 25 goals with a 26.0 shooting %. He would have to go 0 for his next 227 shots to get back to his career average.

JUST SICKENS ME
