I hope it stays cold when they come here. The Mexican teams were absolutely hobbled by that.

They absolutely can, but the injuries are starting to pile up and that could be a problem. Even at 7-12-12, Chivas are probably the equal to a top flight MLS side.

The New York/Chivas game today had one of the most ridiculous box scores I've ever seen. NY outshot them 20-1 and 9-0 on net, but the game ended 0-0.

The NYRB are an absolute choke artist team. Throw the match against Colorado on Saturday. We could be going to the World Champions League boys, what a time to be alive. Best 12 month span in Toronto sports history

Raptors best record in the East, second best in the NBA, most franchise wins.
Leafs most franchise wins and points, going to the playoffs for a second year in a row, first time that's happened since 2002-03, 2003-04
TFC: best record in MLS history, MLS Cup champs, off to CONCACAF finals
Argonauts: CFL champs
Blue Jays: Start 8-4 on the year

Feels like they got robbed by circumstance. Chivas were dogshit against each of Seattle, New York and TFC, and Seattle and TFC were both completely ravaged with injuries. TFC had literally the toughest possible matchup they could have faced in each round and still made it to the finals. They even had to re-qualify for this tournament and win the Canadian Championship a second time after Canada Soccer changed the qualification rules midstream.

Not much you can do when literally every central defender on your team was hurt going into the final leg and your second and third best penalty takers were hurt and unable to participate in the shootout.

It is injury related, he is not going anywhere.

Looking all but official:

TFC have massive holes to fill with Giovinco, Vazquez and van der Wiel gone, and Champions League starts in just 20 days.

I get it, the core is on the wrong side of 30 and expensive. Plus it is no secret that the new guy was brought in to get younger. It's just too bad that this core only won one title.

Apparently they're going to sign Terrence Boyd, who probably is more of a Ricketts replacement.

I'm not surprised. They make a ton on TFC they'd be stupid to squander that goodwill with the fans.

Pozuelo had an unreal debut.

He also had a goal called back on an offside call, nearly scored on a free kick and he could have had two or three more assists. He might be better than Giovinco. Image

CANPL starting soon. Got my tickets to the first Forge FC game. Should be fun stuff. Anyone else following this league's progress? It won't be top level football, but they're mostly young pro players coming from legit organizations.

Rumours that Robben might come as a TAM signing. Huge if it works out.

Robben is not signing for TAM. TFC had exploratory talks with his agent that didn't lead anywhere. My guess is this was before the Pozuelo signing was finalized. Inter Milan has serious interest in Robben and I can't see him spurning them for the MLS.

According to TFC insiders and apparently Ali Curtis, they are expected to announce a TAM signing from Argentina in the coming days/weeks.

Having a hard time getting into the CPL. The team names are so dumb (Valour, Forge and Cavalry sound like Slamball teams) and they're talking like anti-MLS Eurosnobs (no playoffs, promotion/relegation, a team in every city with 50,000 people in the country), even though MLS is the fastest growing league in the world.

Hopefully it gets good, but I think the shitheads in charge might need to be replaced with people who have a more pragmatic vision for an upstart sports league in North America. I think that they're going to be surprised to find out that the average Canadian sports fan doesn't give a fuck about pro/rel and they expect playoffs, just like every other sport that's played on this continent.

I agree 100% on the names. Forge is horrible, even though i like the orange . valour... Ugh. Anyway. I kinda like the direction otherwise. I think they're trying to align more with Scottish premiere or Ireland. Those are probably good templates. If the goal is to produce more Canadian pros (which is the whole point) its not going to happen with 1 or 2 Canadian MLS teams. I have no issues with delusions of grandeur... I think York and Hamilton will have healthy crowds. Probably Halifax too. Who knows about the rest.

The branding is so off though. Jerseys are meh. Names are meh. At least they attracted a few decent internationals for the level, but Hamilton basically only signed players that attended the manager's own youth academy.

Tristan Borges will not be with the Forge for long. Guy is a beast.

The quality in the CPL is waaaay better than I expected.
