NYCFC would have to win 3-0 to knock out TFC. Good luck.

I like our chances at home down by one with two road goals in the bag.

Technically they're up by one. If they play to a draw 0-0 then they win, right?

0-0 means Montreal advances.
1-0 or 2-1 wins are very doable.

If they win 3-2 it goes to extra time and if Montreal scores 3 or more they need to win by 2.

And lets not play 2 games quickly, either. Lets space them out about a week or so, and really drag this whole thing out unnecessarily.

That's what I don't understand. Why such a long layoff? Does MLS not realize that it's going to get cold pretty fucking soon? I mean it's already started to.

MLS fanboy at work here told me it was because of some other more important tournament happening in the world so there would be players missing from the teams. I was of the position that it doesn't matter - just get this show over and done with.
How can a season start in April, and go all the way to December when there's only a 34 game season? Major League Soccer? More like Major League Silly!

Every major soccer league runs roughly the same span or longer. International breaks and cup tournaments take up alot of time and soccer typically has a 7 day rest in between games like the NFL.

Not simple, just impractical unless you cut out a portion of the season. As it is the playoffs are already running into the winter months.

Hopefully the boys come out of the half on the offensive. Too often has TFC sat on their heels after taking a lead and paid the price for it. They are the better team, they have the momentum and they are at home. Step on the Impact's throats.

I agree, but it's tough either way. Sitting back is death, but Montreal creates almost all their offense off the counter. Just need to find that third goal and get some breathing room.

The atmosphere alone is why you’d want TFC to host the final.

The higher the stakes, the more these players want to roll around and cry over cheap shots.

Subbing Giovinco before pks and allowing Morrow to shoot that high in the order was questionable. Tough, tough way to lose.

Re: Throw Another Toronto Sports Team on the Fire: The Toronto FC Thread
^ They looked to be playing for the tie the whole game. To their credit though they were playing without Dempsey, and they didn't give up many dangerous chances themselves. It was a tight match, and unfortunately we came up short on the coin flip.
