The Pension Plan Pukes recently vomited their mid term grades out.

Spoiler alert: Jake Gardiner is the best dman on the team.

Hacklund has the Leafs being interested in Hamilton, Calgary wants Kadri E4 :stare:

My Hans fan friend sent me a pic of the homepage...

This really isn't an excerise in the legitimacy of his credibility, just gauging what you think, if you'd do it.

I think I would.

Not happening and we are fucked at C in that case. Nylander isn't ready for hard matchups at C while Bozak only does well in a sheltered role. Kadri has been a shield for the other centres on the team. Plus Calgary seems to be pretty happy with Hamilton lately, he has formed a great pairing with Gio.

So JVR for Fowler, that's going to happen eventually, right?

It feels like the Schenn for JVR thing all over again. Talked about so much it seems like it has to happen.

It seems to me, unless the Leafs are willing to take a dump back too, it doesn't make sense for the Ducks financially.

I was thinking more about your on ice need versus their need to maximize asset management for the expansion draft. It seems like a perfect fit to be honest. Maybe a RH defenseman for you in Trouba/Myers but I'm not sure Winnipeg needs/wants a JVR.

It might make more sense for them to trade a defenceman for a expansion draft exempt player or draft pick, is what I wanted to say.

Gotcha..fair enough. Is there anything in NJ that isn't Severson (not that he's amazing but we literally can't trade him due to the tire fire on the backend) or Hall that could fetch JVR? Devils will be bad for a long time to come and bringing home a Middletown boy (my hometown boyyyyy) would help attendance a bit in the coming years as we miss the playoffs for the billionth time in a row.

I don't know. I could actually see him being kept until after the draft (if not long term) as the Leafs are in no big concern cap wise or expansion draft.

If JVR isn't extended anywhere and makes it to UFA, he's going to be a Ranger for sure. Favourite team growing up and they will throw stupid money at him.

Was just reading a mock draft in The Hockey News. They have them stealing Brown. IMO, there's not a chance in hell they let this diamond in the rough go for nothing.

https://theathletic.com/32202/2017/01/0 ... redit-for/

Auston Matthews was underrated in the minor hockey system in Arizona because his family wasn’t pouring tens of thousands of dollars into him playing on a top travel team every year. Many people in hockey there didn’t realize he was their best and brightest until right near the very end.

He was underrated with the National Team Development Program because the coaches there didn’t know much about him, so much so that they asked him to tryout on site. (Most elite players are ushered in without such measures.)

He was underrated throughout his draft year because everyone was hyper-focused on where he chose to play (Switzerland) instead of what he did over there (0.67 goals per game, surpassing at 18 years old what three-time 40-goal man Rick Nash produced at age 20 in the league).

And he was underrated when he joined the Maple Leafs this fall because there had never been anyone like him and he wasn’t pegged to be The Next One.

What he has done so far for Toronto, however, suggests he might be.

Out of shape Roenick is more entertaining to watch than a game shape Jamal Mayers though.

I read that earlier on twitter. The kid does not lack for confidence, but it doesn't come off in the least way cocky. Not that there's wrong with a little cockiness, he just exudes confidence in his abilities without it seeming like he's over inflating his abilities in any way. The kid knows how good he is, and he's not exaggerating.

I'm really liking the stuff that's coming out of The Athletic, not just because it's refreshingly positive Leafs hype but because it's pretty good quality.

Zaitsev fulfilled the last year of his contract in the KHL before signing with the Leafs last May. He was already familiar with Toronto because he spent many summers training with Roberts in the city. “I was immediately impressed by the facilities here,” Zaitsev said. “Everything that I wanted in hockey was in this city.”

Yeah I like The Athletic a lot as well. Good quality articles, that Jack Han guy is very underrated, he does a great job with systems analysis articles.

Sad that it's a subscriber service, I likely won't be signing up for it.
