This annoys me so bad. There's like a half dozen players in this lineup that aren't NHL calibre. William Karlsson has 25 goals with a 26.0 shooting %. He would have to go 0 for his next 227 shots to get back to his career average.

JUST SICKENS ME

I fully expect them to crash next season. Though the fact that a roster like that can be doing what they're doing kinda illustrates the problem with the league nowadays...

Weird what happens when a team shows up to play every night.

It also helps if the other team is hung over for every home game.

Fleury has been unreal this year in giving the team a chance. His quality start % is 87.5% this year compared to his next best year of 66.7% in 07-08. Last year, the best QS% among goalies who played 20 games or more was ~70% for Dell who played exactly 20 games. The year before that? 69% for Crawford and Schneider. And his Goals saved above average is also huge, like only behind Vasilivesky despite only playing 18 games.

Quality starts are starts with SV% > average SV% for the year, or at least 88.5% on nights with 20 or fewer shots against. Quality starts % is quality starts/games played.

Dansk showed well. Subban started hot but still ended up at around 50%, which is around average. Legace is the only goalie they've had this year with below average QS%.

Meh, they built a lightning quick team. Good on them for recognizing this is where hockey is heading, with the benefit of not taking on (or having) any aging albatross with no legs.

Also, the Florida GM is an idiot.

Yeah, Tallon is pretty retarded. Traded Smith as a 'cap dump', and in return for Vegas taking on such a massive, franchise-crippling burden, he made it up to them by being so generous to let them take Marchessault in the expansion draft.

To be fair, the other GMs (and even those numbers geeks) in the league didn't see this level of value (or any value at all perhaps) in those two either.

Perhaps teams didn't see value in Smith but I find it hard to believe a guy who scored 30 wouldn't have returned interest. I don't think Tallon even tried to shop him, he just offered him up in the Smith deal.

So the Bruins coach said out loud he thought Marchand was trying to protect himself on that elbow...

Well, his words are now worthless

Cleanest guy in the league gets 2 games for this:

Scumbag with five previous suspensions gets 5 games for this Jon Jones flying elbow:

It's nice of the league to give a job to a guy with severe brain damage like George Parros, but maybe don't let him be in charge of anything important.

Tonight's latest goaltender interference fiasco:

There's a mutiny brewing in the NHL. Fans and media (other than TSN) are in meltdown mode. The coaches and players don't know what the hell is going on. The league doesn't seem to mind that there's a minimum of one blown call every night.

The best part is that McDavid told the refs to "check upstairs" after he scored in the shootout and they gave him an abuse of an official penalty. Not only are they allowed to hijack every game, but they'll be goddamned if they're going to hear about it.

It's pretty amazing how Phil is having the best season of his career and nobody is talking about it. I mean it's hard when you have Sid and Malkin on your team to really get any attention but the guy has 62 pts in 53 games and is in the top 5 of the league. Should hit 30 goals again for the first time since 2014. Crazy.

I would be surprised if the NHL didn't make an example of Burrows for kneeing Hall. I would start at 10 games at least.

What a fucked up game that only the Islanders are capable of having. Islanders are down 3-1 going into the third period. Islanders make it 3-2, then Detroit answers with two more to make it to 5-2. Tyler Bertuzzi slashes Clutterbuck who embellishes and gets a match penalty as a result. On the 5 min PP Islanders score 4 straight PP goals to make the game 6-5, Detroit ties with a minute left then Brock Nelson wins in OT. Nelson hat-trick, Barzal with his THIRD 5 pt night. All in all, 8 goals were scored in the third period.

Sadly this will quickly turn into "Barzal > Matthews, Barzal > Marner, Barzal > Nylander" on boredz

That kind of stuff is inevitable unfortuntely, but Barzal is worthy of most of the praise he is getting. When guys like Boeser get tagged as the next great thing because of an unsustainable S% it irks me far more.

Have to assume that Ottawa Sens are keeping/taking a bunch of money, otherwise LA will have like $20 million tied up in Brown, Gaborik and Phaneuf. :rudy:
