Hockey Reference just added save percentages going back to 1955. How good was Johnny Bower? He led the league in SV% four years in a row from 1963 to 67, and six out of eight years going back to 1959.

Goalies skate blade fell off leading to a goal. Can’t say I’ve seen that before.

Comparing this TB game vs the Bruins to the Leafs, reaffirms my opinion that a big problem for the Leafs is how much they ice the puck and make terrible outlet passes through the neutral zone.

A systematic flaw, imo. Either Babs is deploying a breakout that is not conducive to maintaining possession, or the Leafs D are really really bad at passing. Either way Babcock failed to adjust.

The overall quality of hockey was much better.

And its not just about the series, they Leafs were just as sloppy in the regular season.

Who's ready for Edmonton 'Lers to pick up their seventh first overall pick in the last ten drafts (or whatever)?

It always seemed like he was about to lose his job though. every year it seemed like that was the year Bower was too old, Don Simmons or Bruce Gamble would start to take over, then he'd lock it down in big gams. Part of it was probably Imlach playing games though.

Hard to fuck up a rebuild on the backs of Dahlin and Eichel. They have interesting prospects but a lot of garbage on that roster too.

Add in Mittelstadt and Ristolainen, they'll be good for a long while. RoR and Okposo will be a drag though.

Backes literally skates 200 feet to hit Giardi from behind and gets no penalty.
Marchand trying to break Stralman's wrist is probably more worthy of a 3 game break than the Wilson hit.

A deliberate two hander just above the cuffs (puck 10 feet away). How he is still skating with a head on his shoulders I'll never understand.

It may take a string of guys sacrificing some money and GP to prove a point to the league and DOPS. If a few guys were willing to give Marchand the same shot on the wrist every couple of games until he and the Bruins started crying, something might happen. Open season on the cunt until he calms down.

I do a bit. Lots of athletes in the family. TJ Kemp (former Hab prospect) is Montgomery's nephew. Good guy.

Marchand getting suspended for licking instead of all the other garbage things he does is like some taking down the mob with RICO instead of murder and drug charges kind of shit. Except that in the case of the mob the police couldn't prove anything and here the NHL is just a piece of shit league.

But honestly, in the world we're living in right now, how fucking dumb can the NHL be?

What would happen if this were real life? You have an employee who licks another employee on the face in the workplace, you do nothing to punish them, and then the same employee does the exact same thing to someone else, but more aggressively. Callahan would be taking them to the cleaners.

Imagine if Callahan had a restraining order put on him. :lou_laugh:

Reminder of some of the shit he's done since he received his sixth career suspension in January, which knocked Marcus Johansson out of the lineup for 30 games:

Duclair missed the rest of the season (13 games).

Watching Game 4. Interesting watching TBL beat Boston's forecheck and push their defense back using...uhem...stretch passes. Ten minutes into the game and I've counted 4 passes that crossed 2 lines. Several from below the dots. Most were Babs-era-Detroit style, diagonal to the far blue line -- especially good on an opposition change -- but a couple have gone up the strong side boards.

Chara looks tired.

If only we had a Hedman.

The anthem singer in Tampa tonight can't hit the lowest notes in the Star Spangled Banner. Obviously chose a key that's too low for her. I wonder if she's got a problem with her voice and can't get to her usual upper range so they sacrificed the low notes to be able to hit all the dramatic ones in the second half?

Anyway, hockey.

OHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOHOH

The Leafs took it up the rump end from the refs and at least made it seven games.

Boston was a one line team. If the Bergeron line didn't dominate, the Bruins were not dangerous.

In wins: 41 points in 5 games
In losses: 12 points in 7 games

TBL's D were excellent. Hedman, Stralman and Coburn were all really solid in their end. Stralman is a great all-rounder. Does everything really well. Coburn is sneaky good. So mobile for a big guy and smart with his stick, etc. McDonagh can be a little wild at times, but was mostly good.

The Leafs took it up the rump end from the refs and at least made it seven games.

Boston was a one line team. If the Bergeron line didn't dominate, the Bruins were not dangerous.

In wins: 41 points in 5 games
In losses: 12 points in 7 games

To be fair, I thought the DeBrusk line was consistently dangerous against us.

So mobile for a big guy and smart with his stick, etc. McDonagh can be a little wild at times, but was mostly good.

I'd hope so - on paper they are one of the best D corps in the NHL.
