That just means he’ll fit right in with Matthews, Nylander, and Marner.

Hahaha beautiful

So good

(For those not watching, Bozak tripped Acciari and then the Blues scored after the non-call... while Acciari was laying on the ice trying to draw a call. Also, he dove. Was still a penalty though)

Fuck these Bruins. It’s so good. Too good.

Hughson and Simpson are beside themselves. Never heard them talk about Leafs fans having a right to be mad when there were missed calls in our series.

Did you hear the absolute joy in their voices after Boston scored their only goal? Never heard that when the Leafs scored, that's for sure.

Have to wonder if that second goal wasn't the back breaker for the Bruins. The one where Marchand did his best turnstile impression and then fucked off to the bench while the Blues were going in on net.

When one of your veteran leaders shows up for a game seven with an effort like that, what message does it send to the rest of the bench?

With all due respect to Bozie - who was criminally underrated - Steen is the one that got away. Quietly solid production year after year, plays both ends of the ice, does all the little things and can set the tone for your group. Just like his old man, he just shows up every day and does the whole job to a high level. There’s a reason they’ve never moved on from him. Glad to see him win before he hangs them up. Hard to believe he’s 35.

The Gunnarson deal worked out for them too. Also a shot against the “Bouwmeister can’t win” crowd.

It's very surreal to see JBouw win the Cup. He never made the playoffs in junior, and didn't play an NHL playoff game until he was 29 years old and 10 years into his NHL career. Didn't even win a playoff round until he was 32, crazy.

Solid career for him now though, an Olympic gold, 2 World Championship golds, 2 World Cups and now a Stanley Cup.

Also weird to think that Steen is only a few months younger than JBouw, feels like he's way younger than that for some reason.

I have to admit that I always thought JBo was a bit too soft as a defenceman but hey, good for him that he's finally won his Cup.

I don't get it lol... He's obviously not getting less than the qualifying offer is he?

Edit: Apparently it's to avoid arbitration, they still want to sign him. Though is he not a UFA if he isn't qualified?

IIRC. Even if players don’t have arbitration rights sometimes they aren’t qualified and then sign a contract for less than their QO have been. There’s an automatic raise for qualifying offers and teams sometimes don’t want fringe players at their QO price tags.

Yeah, that's normally for 4th line scrubs or prospects who haven't made it yet, not so much to avoid arbitration. Especially with a guy who has no reason to have any loyalty to you. I think it's been done with guys who haven't lived up to past contracts too, where the QO feels unreasonable.

But Hartman made 875 last year. He'll want more than the QO, it's actually ridiculous he signed that contract to begin with. I guess I can understand wanting to avoid arbitration, but trading for a guy then doing this seems nuts. A home grown player you could try this with because you have a relationship with them and they're established in the city, so they might not why to move. Hartman doesn't even know he's been traded yet. He ought to just wait 4 days and test the market.
