At this point, he’s the 4th outfielder when Morales is back. Would much rather have Pearce/Granderson-Pillar-Hernandez. Ideally Morales isn’t even a factor but...welp.

I think that Hernandez might run into the same problems, but Grichuk is like Eric Hinske, easy out on a high fast ball.

I'm just hoping that between Hernandez and Grichuk one of them figures out how to reduce their K% or take more walks.

Ngoepe and Mayza optioned. Morales off the DL. Lourdes Gurriel recalled.

At least Hernandez is hitting in big spots even if he strikes out. Grichuk is just a waste of time. Was a dumb move to trade for him when you have the exact same player in your system already.

It's stupid to judge a player when he is at his absolute worst. Of course Hernandez looks better, he is on the opposite extreme right now. They are both very similar players with high ceilings, it makes sense to acquire as many high ceiling players as you can if the price is right.

Very interesting development. Gurriel has torn the cover off the ball in the early going, and has some potential to be a quality utility player off the bench for us.

What vf said, this is a guy who has been worth a little more than 2 WAR per season over his career. That is a league average player, which is not something you give up on after less than a month.

Getting him allowed them to dump Zeke. That makes him one of the most important Jays in history.

Also, let's keep this thread about Galchenyuk's on-ice performance, development and value and NOT bring in his personal life or race.

After his first 20 games in AA (plus a few innings of a rained out game):

.388/.455/.600/1.055, 12 BB/10 SO

Youngest player in all of AA. The next youngest in the Eastern League is Bo Bichette, who is a year older, and the third youngest is one year older than Bichette.
