JD likely made the call that he should play 3B for the opener, but comeon meow. I don't know if it's what he's got, but I've had a rotator cuff injury myself. Do I rehab it by doing light stretches/weights? Yes. Doing anything fast/quickly with that shoulder is not a good idea for recovery. Should have just played it safe and DH'd.

Jays would be better off with JD at DH, Solarte at third, and Morales restricted to batting practice.

Apparently the first HR was the hardest opposite field hit of the statcast era.

What is dead arm? Does it not effect hitting?

I can't say when it applies specifically to swinging a bat. I'd imagine the discomfort/pain is much less for the rear one for a righty. Still some pain though.

It's arm fatigue and it typically occurs at the start of a season when players begin to ramp up their throwing again or at the end of a season due to overuse. In my experiences it doesn't impact hitting at all, it just makes it uncomfortable to throw.

Think this is gonna be a long year, fellas.

I was talking to a guy at work today, and was just sayin' how I don't hate the Yankees. They don't have any d-bags on their team that you just can't stand. Their top three of Severino, Tanaka and Gray is killer too.

It's only two games, the Jays offense is not this bad. I still think they are one of the front runners for the second WC spot.

I agree, AZ, but we said similar things last year and the year before that. 2016 they recovered but there are so many unknowns with this team that my confidence isn’t high. I am intrigued, though.

Plus Morales is a black hole.

I wouldn't say I'm confident in this team, there are very few teams I feel that way about this season. That said, there is enough here that if they can stay healthy they can be competitive.

Health and not be fucking morons and meagerly wave at pitches nowhere in the zone. Or right over the fucking plate and swing right through it.

They look like they could be in the running for that spot but they have a tough schedule. The Twins seem to have an easier path even if the talent isn't quite where the Jays are.

I'll be rooting and watching the games simply because I love the game, love the jays. But if they make a wildcard it will be a shock to me.

Pillar with the least amount of respect for a pitcher I’ve seen and it’s hilarious. Clowning all over Betances.

He's been solid, playing here should only help him. If the pitching staff can hold up, I really think this is a wild card team.
