Also, I was wrong about Sr. He has 8 children with 5 women and pays over $25,000 per month as of 2012.

Here's an article about this very subject! Kemp doesn't even rank.

A five hour 15 inning game between two teams combined for 200 losses is why baseball is crap.

He’s really really smart at baseball. If he can lower his strike-outs he’d be a superstar.

His walk rate is elite.

Not too concerned about K's because everyone is all or nothing anymore in baseball

I mean just for him to become elite. Going from 30% to 20% would be a big deal. It’s a huge task because he’d either sacrifice his walks or just get better at hitting.

The beginning of next year will at least be exciting g. Damn shame they won’t spend any real money on rotation upgrades.

His walk rate is unbelievable for a rookie, and he's on pace for what would be 25-27 HR over a full season. Power + patience + defensive versatility is what made Ben Zobrist such a stud, and Biggio is looking a lot like a young Ben Zobrist right now.

If he reduces his k rate what's the expected increase in productivity?

Ideally just getting on base more since putting the ball in play tends to lead to that over striking out. I know I’m asking a 25 year old professional baseball player to “figure out how to hit better without sacrificing anything”. Ks and sub-par defense are the only holes in his game.

Meh, I'd rather him not fuck with his approach tbh, I think his k's and walk rate will get better as he gains experience. His D at second has graded out pretty damned average at 2nd which is fine.

They'd get him and he'd immediately become a pretty good player and Vlad would immediately turn into Big Papi 2.0.

If Betts was gold glove CF under contract at something reasonable they can have big papi tbqh. Betts has almost caught up to Ortiz by war simply by the fact he's good in the field.

I just meant through Blue Jays luck and reputation rather than actual projections.

My only real concern with Betts, apart from lack of contract, is age related regression. I’m conflicted because teams are really bad at holding on to prospects and young players until they bust.

Yeah, I know what you meant on the projections and if Vladdy turns into Ortiz that makes a trade pretty tilted Jays if it wouldn't be helping the sox and he was a free agent.

There was no way he was going to stay with the team even if the Blue Jays wanted to keep him. Yuli Gurriel is also a piece of shit.

Solid read on an undrafted kid who destroyed loA and hiA. Era under 1 in each. He's older now at 25, but was brought in as an org arm for rookie ball last season and impressed enough to get pushed up to loA where he mowed down the league. Currently in the AFL and hasn't allowed a run in 6.1IP and he's slated to hit AA next season where things will become a bit clearer on his future. I love reading success stories on kids like this though.

Jays acquired Chase Anderson for pretty much nothing (Chad Spanberger). He's...good. Has a homer problem but does everything else well and no history of injury.

A poor man's Marco Estrada at worst. Solid back end starter on a decent contract. The narrative Milwaukee felt they had to dump him after his awful season is strange. He's only making 8.5 and 9.5 next couple of years.

I looked into what the brewers beat writers said about it, basically it seems like they just want to use the cash on a better player with insinuations they want someone high level and this will help somehow

They're shedding salary all over the place. No idea what their intention is, but I'm pretty comfortable saying their front office is worse then the Jays.

Just so I'm sure on this, are you getting the Brewers mixed up with the Rockies (or another team)? The Brewers have a pretty solid front office; Yelich trade, signing Cain, Grandal, and Moustakas, as well as solid prospect drafting and development. Like the Jays, they haven't been great with starting pitching. Wild Card this season and division winner the season before that. They've only shed Anderson and Thames while both are okay they are pretty easily replaceable.

They were 33-38 in the second half last season so some decent upgrades should be able to push them that far plus any growth from the kids.

Biggio got 3 votes (two 2nds and one 3rd) for AL ROY. Notably, to me, Eno Sarris of the Athletic and formerly of Fangraphs had him at #2. Eno is a really smart dude.
