Kemba Walker and Dwight are generally Raptor killers and Toronto eviscerated them tonight. 21-8.

Missed the game... Did Ibaka and JV keep doing what they've been doing?

Ibaka had a good one. OG couldn't miss from 3. Pretty much a wire-to-wire win

This team could make a finals-type run... I just hope Casey isn't the thing that holds them back.

He's been an excellent coach this year. The shift from ISO ball to a passing game is so beautiful to watch. DeMar still holds on to the basket and takes a two to end a quarter, they need to get rid of that, but 1-9 in their rotation looks really good. Van Vleet, Delon, Anunoby, Powell, Poetl, Siakam, Masai has been killing it in the draft.

Masai draft picks:
2014: Bruno Cabaclo (20th), DeAndre Daniels (37th)
2015: Delon Wright (20th), Norm Powell (46th)
2016: Jakob Poltl (9th - via Knicks), Pascal Siakam (27th)
2017: OG Anunoby (23rd)

That's some really good drafting. Bruno didn't work out, but was worth the shot at 20th overall. But that's, as of now, 5 rotation players, 4 drafted 20th or later.

Much closer than it needed to be and they were down 22 or 23 without Embiid, but still 22-8. My squad.

Dropped in the draft and wasn’t expected to play until 2018. Hadn’t missed a game. El oh el.

Even though Bruno was a whiff, at least it wasn't a Rafael Araujo. Drafting a fucking SR at #8 when High School kids were available; in a draft that had 5-6 pretty sure fire studs on the board. Jesus Christ what a blunder.

The crazy thing is Bruno is still only 22. I'm not expecting him to develop into anything, but there is still that possibility.

He could be a PJ Tucker type. Make the NBA and stick in his mid-late 20s. Right now he's been given the chance to prove consistency in the G league and never really grasped it.

The last two games were 2016-17 Raptors games. I think I agree with Paul Pierce that don't be fooled by this group. They're the same Raptors as before. The ball movement will stop once things start getting tough and DeMar will revert back to hero ball. That's exactly what he was doing.

I'd rather they not fail. I'd like to think they overcome it. I like to think that they'll add to the roster. They have so many attractive young pieces maybe they can attract a trade target.

I appreciate Casey changing his rhythm a bit, but he is the only mainstay piece that can change during this nice run of regular season success. Said it before, but I would hate this team to be this close and get knocked out (again) because the bench boss can't rely on anything other than an ISO when the game gets tough.

Casey has done a GREAT Job here. The hero ball is on DeMar, not the coach.

I'm going tonight where they play the lowly Hawks. IF they lose,I lose it.

The coach is supposed to have plays for the big moments. If the play is his choice to ISO Demar, or the players choose to ignore Casey and ISO Demar, neither of those options mean he should stay.

Casey has done a great job. Absolutely. So have many coaches that handed off to a new coach that got the glory.

They have hit their ceiling several times with him to this point and, like I said, it would be a shame to look back and see them bang their heads off the wall with teams good enough to surpass where they wound up.

That's how superstars in the NBA operate. They ignore their coaches, all the top ones do it. DeMar is no different. I think he's hit maybe one game winning bucket that I can remember in his time here, that was against the Magic back a couple years ago I think. I still think they need a bonafide superstar to go along with those two guys. Serge wasn't a big enough name. I just don't know who is available, but the Raptors have a lot of great young pieces other teams would want.

It's not a coaching issue, it's a talent issue. Like you said the Raptors have reached their ceiling, it's really no one's fault that they can't beat teams like GS or CLE. There are maybe 2 or 3 coaches in the entire NBA who could get more out of this group to warrant a change, and none of them are available.

One of us says something like this, then they an individual effort like that one. Good on Demar.

I think if we could get consistent D from Demar, better/quicker defensive rotations and STICK to moving the ball well on offense, they will at least have a shot in a 7 game series if they make the east finals again.

Everyone in the league is chasing GS and Lebron, it isn't like we are unique in this challenge. I hope we just stay healthy and stick to the plan. This is about as close as they will get to being a contender short of a team making a huge gaff in a trade.

I think Ibaka is the key, if he can play like a premier player they have a chance.

The D from DeMar last night was a thing to see, if he could keep that effort up that will be huge. I think the minutes being cut from him and KLow will be a big factor come playoffs as well. They can go in being reasonably rested.

Re: Zan Tabak to Kyle Lowry: The Toronto Raptors Thread

His block on Giannis last night changed everything and allowed it to get to OT. That was a Herculean performance by DeMar last night, he played like a genuine superstar. I didn't like the play he ran at the end of the game, the fans know it's coming, so obviously the teams do as well. In OT they changed it up, and I think the last plays of the game need to come out like that. Any one of those guys can hit shots, get them the ball. The game against the Hawks everyone but Poetl and Nogueira made a three pointer. Trust your teammates, this is a good squad.

I don't know how reliable this information is, but a friend of mine on the Raptors game crew says there is a rumor going around that the Raps are seriously considering a JV + Powell for DeAndre Jordan trade. I doubt that pushes the Raptors into contending territory, but it definitely improves their interior defense and gives them an edge on the glass over GS and CLE.

DD is shooting 48% from the field, 34.9% from 3, and averaging 4.9 APG. There are not many athletes I respect more in professional sports than this man, he has improved every weakness people criticized and is now well above average at passing, efficiency and 3P shooting. The only thing left is defense.

Quite honestly, I don't like it.
