Where I live now in Hoboken, I'd say it's like 70% for Biden, if not more.
Where I grew up in Middletown, I'd say it's 50% for Trump, 25% Biden and 25% don't give a fuck

think it's obvious from my last post or a lot of my posts in general but i'm in austin. i'm actually shocked at how many biden lawn signs i see. i can't remember seeing a single trump sign. like anywhere, there's crazy trump supporters. i expect my county to go 70% for biden. it would be nuts if it was higher, or even if turnout was increased.

Working in the south I found there was more of an irrational fear/hatred of Democrats than a love of Trump. They talked a lot about how Democrats were going to take all their guns and outlaw religion and turn the country into Venezuela. I know there are a lot of Trump worshipers out there but it wasn't the people I talked to. "I'm not a big fan of Donald Trump but at least he's not a SOCIALIST" was pretty common. It's scary when you realize that Fox News is actually the most accurate and sane source of information for a lot of people.

When you can’t attack someone you attack others. Biden has a long track record of middle of the row politics, plus his personal story is hard to attack. Biden is well known, and most people know him as a well meaning, caring, decent human being. His campaign has also done a good job reinforcing that message that plays extremely well in the pandemic. So all that is left for the other side is to attack the outliers in the Democratic Party to hope to tie Biden to them.

Of course Biden won the primary by basically putting together a large coalition to crush Sanders. So the influence will be limited.

Trump with his campaign is basically in the bunker commanding the fictitious 6th army at this point.

in terms of texas i don't worry about it for the presidential race too much. voter turnout in dallas, austin, san antonio, houston, and el paso would have to increase so much to make up the gap and i don't think it's possible right now. trump won texas by 800k votes. i'm hoping for additional turnout of like 50k in austin. maybe in the future it will be a battleground state which would be a nightmare for the GOP.

i think there's a better shot down ballot for dems in texas. right now austin is split into 6 districts and is fucked by gerrymandering. austin is a city that votes 70/30 in the dems favor, but has 1 dem representative in the house. there were some tight races in 2018 that were within 3-5% and a boost in turnout could really change things. unfortunately my district is pretty fucked and the dem lost in 2018 by 15.5% (37k votes). i doubt it flips.

A normal election I would agree with you, but I think Biden pulls out Florida due to the effects of the pandemic. The thing to remember about Florida is while the last few election cycles have gone red, they are still incredibly close margins. Both statewide elections (governor and senate), went to a recount in 2018 and the Dems probably should have won had they not nominated a candidate (Gillium) who’s administration was under investigation for corruption and the Senate Democrats would have supported Nelson more bs Scott’s money. Right now because of the pandemic I think there is enough bleeding of Seniors who don’t want to die from the pandemic to move the needle the half point to two points Biden needs.

Texas I agree. I think Trump and the Senator there pull out close wins.

sacrificing the old and being very public about it has killed him in the 65 and older crowd. who would have thought those people like being alive and they like seeing their children/grandchildren. the 65+ crowd votes in the short term mainly, which is why they usually vote republican. problem is dying right now seems a lot more important to them at the moment than their 401k or taxes.
