Video Games and Some Guy who Eats Pie

At least it worked out for the Oilers.

yeah, i've seen it. from what i've seen the optimization is terrible. streamers with insane computers have issues running it. is it because they're streaming at the same time? maybe.

Ya I don't think it'll be a game that can be played on console without massive optimizations, but they release ver 1.0 today and I've been playing it on the test servers for a couple of weeks (PC)

LNS been playing it too, but not sure what he thinks of the test/release version

Edit: I also have a pretty decent PC. I doubt I could stream the game, but I have no issues w/ FPS or latency.

Exactly, I turned Memphis, UVA, Maryland and Navy into national powerhouses back in the day. I still have that disc in my PS3 that I haven’t turned on in forever..lol

Yup, the slightest bump knocks the puck off your stick

Used to be able to actually pass the puck around on the powerplay. Now carrying the puck into the zone and getting a shot off feels like a small victory

EA’s best games were always NCAA Football. Tells you all you need to know that they just stopped making them

Wasn’t it a licensing issue that stopped that franchise?

They stopped because they saw the writing on the walls that they were about to get sued for not paying the players.

I can tell you the small D1 schools are pushing hard to get it back. Any little licensing a school like Northwestern State can get would help

i've heard streamers complain of rubberbanding. also, a lot of lag. you also have to remember they get sniped so they have more things happening on their screen.

When I got to college I started playing with UNH and used to run the spread; only recruited guys with absurd speed ratings even if they were two or three star guys

No other franchise/GM mode can compare to how fun NCAA was

MVP Baseball was also pretty good. The Show surpassed that one by far, so there isn't a gap in the market for a baseball game (except maybe on xbox now), but that one was solid. Totally agree about NCAA Football being their best otherwise though.

The problem for NHL is that it was actually pretty decent for a while, where the main thing they needed to do was make the goalie half competent and then just make a few minor tweaks. Instead they screwed up half of it and made things infinitely worse.

Yup, gameplay for players was fine until recently but you would have Schneider giving up four goals on 11 shots every game

Now like I said it’s a chore to string together two passes without the puck going nowhere near where you’re aiming or losing the puck thanks to the slightest bump

NCAA was phenomenal but I don’t think their ending was EA’s fault.

Kind of funny the universally accepted best sports game on the market is the Show. What do you know, the only one not produced by EA.

Oh and NBA2K as well. I don’t like basketball games that aren’t NBA Street but another sports game not made by EA and people love it.

May have contradicted myself because EA made Street but obviously the game wasn’t designed to be realistic.

Can Midway come back and make Blitz, Hitz, and Slugfest again? EA can bring back Street and I’ll probably be happy for the first time in my adult life.

Yeah as long as morons continue to pay to play a game they already bought, EA has no reason to give a shit about their game quality.

NBA 2k took a small step back this year. Not totally in the game play, as that's pretty comparable, but just in the big time game modes. Made it much more reliant on virtual currency to actually get anywhere in your "my career" mode, which is a massive selling point for the games (it has been rather good in the past). It makes everything so much more difficult if you won't sink extra money into the game that its almost not worth playing the mode. Otherwise the game is really solid. Just took a small step back from being in a place where it just needs some adjustments and some creativity to change up some stories to keep it fresh.

I will never pay for additional features in a video game under any circumstances. I don’t even buy DLC maps in shooters.

I only do for Bethesda games (Fallout, Skyrim) because it expands the map/story

But yeah for online shooters absolutely not

I guess cause I grew up with expansion packs for PC games, story dlc or anything of substance I don't mind paying for. Extra characters and skins and shit like that I have zero interest in.

While I haven't bought them often, I don't mind it as much for a PC game because it tends to provide a lot better value/more content. Console games it always seems like a waste of money. I still rarely bother, but I'll do it for a game I really enjoy if it changes the experience enough.

My oldest opened the Switch from "Santa" today since we're back home from Arizona, his reaction wasn't as crazy as I thought an excited, "No waaayyyy, Nintendo Switch!!!?!?!?!? Now we can play Pokemon!" Got him Mario Odyssey and it's a bit too advanced for him (he's six). I'll probably get that Pokemon Tournament game for him, but 60 bucks for just a fighting game is a stretch, but both Target and Gamestop were near wiped out of Switch games and the Amazon search for their games sucks, so I turn to yous, any reccomendations for games for him?

Also, on the DLC thing, I saw hang tags to buy DLC for the new Zelda game, a piece of me died today. It may have been the same piece of me that was in pure awe of the fact that 30 Christmases ago, I was gifted an NES and was overjoyed at playing Super Mario Bros, and didn't have to do three system updates before playing it.

he's getting the hang of it, he watched me play a level today and then I let him play his character and he did much better after watching me.

Is this the controller? seems like a solid deal as it's only 10 bucks more than the actual game.

My Gamestop in bumfuck LA has tons. They said they usually get shipments on Wednesdays. Best bet is the Nintendo Store in NYC though. I was there 4:30 the day we played Chicago and they had at least 2 cases sitting behind the counter

As for Pokken, it's just Tekken but the characters are replaced with Pokemon. So if you like Tekken, you'll like it
