Hockey Talk and pet rock discussions

At least it worked out for the Oilers.

He should go to the AHL. There's no shame in that. He is also the primest candidate to be traded.

He's probably the prototypical modern power forward with his speed to go along with his size. I'm perfectly fine sending him to the A so he can get back to basics, get his head straight and obviously get back to work.

I don’t buy that nonsense that the 4th line is a waste of his time. He’s not playing with plugs. Our 4th line is basically another 3rd line.

I'd rather he play 18-20 minutes a game with 4-6 PP minutes versus 10-12 minutes with some PK time. I want him to be an impact player, not another Zajac.

Because it looks like Bratt and Hischier are impact players, it takes pressure off him to be anything more than a Zajac.

10-12 minutes at the nhl level is probably better than 18-20 playing against scrubs

If we want a really good defensemen it's important we get them all to develop so we can trade one of them for maximum return. Zajac is nice...for a 20th overall pick.

Put him on the line with Henrique and Boyle and let them dominate possession. Wood with Gibbons and Coleman would be a fast gritty line. Is it so difficult to see that he'd do well in a defensive role with the chance of potting a few against weaker lines from other teams?

He should be a winger with Nico. He's got a great shot and a passer in the middle would help him. He's a good player.

I don’t even watch the winter classic anymore. It used to be cool. Then the league threw outdoor games down our throats. Bored of it now.

Yeah if I happen to have nothing to do New Year’s Day I’ll watch but definitely don’t go out of my way anymore

It's pretty funny how bad they've fucked up with him. First complaining that they didn't get McDavid (rightfully so) and then not winning, the contract negosh was painful and now.....this. So bad.

Brooks:

The bounty, though and of course, could be expected in the return for McDonagh, who is eligible to go free in 2019 and who will command seven years for between $45 and 50 million on his next deal. This is a legit, blue chip top-pair defenseman whose acquisition would immediately vault the Maple Leafs and Lightning into prime position.

If Gorton could create a bidding war between the clubs that appear the East’s elite, perhaps the Rangers could come back with Mitch Marner from Toronto or perhaps Mikhail Sergachev from Tampa Bay in exchange for the player who for a half-decade has been the Rangers’ most important athlete other than Lundqvist and who still would have another year and another playoff remaining on his contract.
