I don’t care how young you are. If you’re in year 2 and you have a .285 OBP, you better fix it or you’re going to be out of the league soon.

We're talking about the Mets here. Lately, his play has been much better. No one can deny that much. Is he overall a disappointment, for sure but hes only 22 and in one game equaled the number of triples he had previously this season, while his four total triples match his 46-game output from last season. He became the youngest player with multiple triples in a game since Dalton Pompey, 21, had two for Toronto in 2014.

we're still about 40 games away from career game #162. he absolutely needs to be more selective, there's no doubt. but he raked all the way through the minors

It’s not hard to tell when a player has what it takes to be a good pro.

Conforto for example is young and not having a good season either but I think he’s going to be a good player. I have never seen anything from Rosario to suggest he’s going to make it in this league.

And out of 160 something qualifying players, he ranks in the bottom 20 or so in OBP, SLG, and OPS. His WAR is in the negatives. The fact that he’s a decent fielder is what might keep him in the league but you better be on par with Ozzie Smith if you want to hang around the league with an OBP under .300

people are just being dumbasses. i'd be much more worried about Conforto. that shoulder injury fucked him up.

at least Nimmo is awesome

Dom Smith stinks

It’s a shame about Conforto. He needs to go back to being a gap to gap line drive hitter.

with his swing and the head on his shoulders he should be fine. hopefully he can get things straightened out and head into the offseason confident and healthy

Assuming Aguilar is one, he is absolutely crushing the ball this year. Got a chance when Thames went down and has run with it

Rhys Hoskins was hitting homers at an insane pace in a short stint last year and is hitting pretty well this year

Alex Bregman is a recent 2nd overall pick and was probably the best hitter in baseball over the month of the June.

He was on the As last year I think. Dodgers picked him up for basically nothing and he crushing the ball. He’s hitting homers at a 60 per 162 pace right now.

he's been a slow mover through the system but he could be a solid utility guy/bat off the bench, it seems. plus at this point in the season you should be playing all your young guys

Peter Alonso and Andres Gimenez are probably the two position players to watch in the shorter term. If Rosario fizzles out, Gimenez is also a SS. Alonso could be 1B of the future.

Alonso was destroying AA and got moved to AAA but has started slow there. Could be a candidate for a callup next spring/summer.

Gimenez is having a decent year at high A and is only 19

I bet good chunk of change on the Brewers to win the WS at 28:1 so I’ve been following their season and it’s been amazing watching players come out of nowhere to have great seasons.

Yeah, if the Mets unload (which they should) I’m sure the Brewers will call. Maybe the Sox will want Cabrera to solidify 2B

I’m torn on dealing one of deGrom/Syndergaard. You’d get an absolute haul but there are only two or three solid SP types in the system

Brewers top prospect is currently ranked 5th in all of baseball. They’re definitely going to be after either pitcher and would probably take Cabrera as well.

I’d imagine the package they put together would be something like:

-Peralta (currently in the Brewers rotation as a prospect)
-Hiura (#5 prospect in baseball)
-Another prospect
-Domingo Santana or someone like that

I’d probably do it. Let’s not kid ourselves and pretend the Mets are going to be serious contenders while both deGrom and Syndergaard are under team control. They need to stockpile talent like the Braves and Phillies have been doing and dealing one (especially with a SP that can help sooner than later) is a good start

Brewers have also been bingo-balling their SS all year between Arcia, Miller, Orf and Saladino so they’re definitely contenders for Machado as well. Probably can’t get both but the Brewers starting pitching severely lacks an ace.

They have Jimmy Nelson coming back eventually and Anderson is a decent guy but the rest are basically all #5 starters that need to go 4-5 innings before their great bullpen takes over. Degrom makes them a serious contender.

I like hockey more than any other sport. I can watch any two teams play and enjoy it. I can’t do that with baseball or even football.

It is what it is. I’ve gotten into golf partly because of this. I’d rather go out and enjoy myself outside than hope and pray a team I watch on TV gets their shit together.
