Zetterlund’s is the 2nd. He can really shoot the puck to go along with that skating and physicality

They're playing in Gothenburg, I think he sticks with them, plays that game and then stays in Sweden.

I hate to tell you guys this, but, we have prospects that will make the show, they just won't be impact prospects. A lot of third and fourth liners that will be annoying to play against. Star prospects are lacking. I think Smith is their best one now, and McLeod's best role will be the one he served for Canada at the WJC. They needed to better with his pick.

To be fair, there is no Boqvist here, or Walsh, or Davies either, nor Talvitte. So, they do make a difference for me.

She's a nice lady.

Also, I LOVE what Blake Speers said today. Mike Morreale asked him if he doesn't make it will it be a disappointment and he said, no. He's only 21 years old and that they put too much pressure on themselves to make it right away. He's waited 17 years to make it, he's okay waiting another year. It was so refreshing to hear. Most people need to hear that.

i saw they had Speers playing C and that he apparently was playing pretty well. he finished really strong (five goals in the final eight games of the season) and sounded like he was having a great offseason at development camp so i still have pretty high hopes for him. could be a middle six guy that could help at C in a pinch

Yeah, he was just fine there. Speers will be in that 3rd/4th liner mold that I spoke of before. They have a ton of those. I'd like more second and first liners, but, hey.

He's probably the kind of guy who they could have as the 13th forward and not impact his growth potential too much. Give him a chance to play 4th line wing / centre every 4 games or so.

From Pronman:

NEW JERSEY

Yegor Sharangovich, C, New Jersey

In the one Devils game I saw, I had time for Sharangovich. He showed nice puck skills to both create offense and draw a penalty with his skill. He skates decently, not amazing but he can get up the ice with pros, and for his size, he has tools to be intriguing.

Blake Speers, RW, New Jersey

Speers had a rough first pro season, so it was nice to see a standout performance by him with a three-point game versus Boston. He used his speed and skill to create chances, and despite being small, he competed well and won some battles. Given his skill set isn’t high-end at his size, he will struggle versus men to have a huge impact, but I think he has a good talent base and could be a decent two-way forward down the line.

Pronman lists Smith as 39 and Boqvist as 54 in his preseason top 100.

McLeod didn’t even get an honorable mention. Sad!

He’s a miss at 12OA. It is what it is and I hope he has one of those games that translates better as a pro than a junior.

I wouldn’t call it a miss; he still projects as a long-term NHLer with his combo of size, speed and ability to play good defense/PK but a top line center is looking like a long shot at this point. Like I said the other day Mike Fisher is still in his range of outcomes. He’s probably Zajac’s replacement for our purposes.

I disagree with Pronman having Logan Brown in the middle of his 100. He was the pick before McLeod and has been just as up-and-down since that draft. Neither should be ranked.

Yeah it definitely sucks about McAvoy in particular but what can ya do. At this point just gotta root for Mikey M. and hope he’s a contributor. I think he will be.

Much more worried about Zacha. If he can become a #2 and McLeod turns into a #3 that can play up if need be, all of a sudden C is a huge strength for us.

I’m not shedding any tears over Chychryn, at least not yet. McAvoy is worth being assmad over, 100%. He’s a #1 defenseman already.
