Remember "Will the Caps miss the playoffs?" talk this summer? Even if Carlson left and they had a gaping hole, they'd still make it. That offense is next level.

Pretty much. Still think Nico goes first in a redraft (I would take him even if he wouldn’t) but there are going to be some really good players from that class.

It was supposed to be a weak draft class.

Patrick will probably be a fine #2 C for the >flyers for a while but thank god they didn’t take Pettersson or Heiskanen. Both look like they’re going to be franchise cornerstones.

Patrick is going to be really good too. He can be as good as anyone in the draft assuming he stays healthy. I probably see more of him than you guys but he is a good one as well.

I think his ceiling is Johansen (#1 center on a cup contender but the team won’t run through him, if that makes sense)

I think his two way game is higher than his but maybe not quite as potent offensively. All in all a good comparison as to slotting into a team as I agree. I also agree with Nico being that type but with a slightly higher offensive potential.

The way Nico can skate and carry the puck, I think he has legitimate star potential. We’ll see. I’m just happy he’s looking so good because if he was struggling and we were still seeing shit like this from Pettersson and Heiskanen I’d seppuku

He does have the tools but his brain won’t let him go full offensive, he’s too responsible defensively and I mean that as a supreme compliment. I absolutely love him and hope he stays on track to be a superior two way center in the Patrice Bergeron mold.

I would slightly overpay just to have his stability and brains back there. Couldn’t care less about the offense. He’s solid as fuck. He’s so prime for a trade back here too.

Russian ice hockey star Kovalchuk tells 'clean' athletes to go to Olympics - R-Sport

Read more at https://www.thestar.com.my/sport/hockey ... 515UFPm.99
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian ice hockey star Ilya Kovalchuk on Tuesday told his country's clean athletes to make sure they took part in the 2018 Pyeongchang winter Olympics if they satisfied strict conditions that showed they had a doping-free background.

He was speaking after the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said on Tuesday it had banned Russia from the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics after evidence emerged of an "unprecedented systematic manipulation" of the anti-doping system.

"We all perfectly understand that the IOC decision is pure politics and we understand against whom it is directed," Kovalchuk told the R-Sport news agency.

"It was clear that there would be such a decision. But if the athletes go there, it will unite the country. All clean athletes must go."
