We overachieved last year and things are now evening out. Hopefully we get another high pick and sign Panarin or Duchene and dump Hynes next summer. Bring in a more experienced coach. Hynes has taken us as far as he could.

I don’t even have a problem with Hynes at this point. Unless they plan on hiring Quenneville I’m not sure firing him would be anything more than a lateral move. The roster blows, plain and simple. The first line is good. The next 3 lines are trash. Zajac, Coleman and Wood are fine at their roles, but the rest is pretty much all hot garbage. Coincidence that those 3 are all Lou players? Funny how that works.

I played in a men’s league game at 8:30. Watched the first period and then had to leave my house.

He’s okay but his lineup decisions have gotten weird and he seems like the kind of hardass that players eventually tune out. That’s how he came off in the NHL network show.

I think that Hall loves Hynes

I'm not really worried that he will be re-signed, but firiing Hynes might not sit well with Hall

I’m over the lineup decisions. Every coach plays slugs over young talented players. I have no idea why. It won’t change with a new coach.

Bratt should be back Friday, send Stafford to the moon. I think its time to break up the first line to try and balance the lineup.

Hall-Hischier-Bratt
Wood-Zajac-Palmieri
Johansson-Seney-Anderson
Boyle-Coleman-Dea

or something like that

Palms isn’t enough to carry a weak 2nd line. Hall has to play with them and Nico with Palms

the first line is the only thing that's working and is probably top five in the league. it would be nuts to break them up

Wood isn't playing well enough at the moment to justify being in the top six

Hall-Hischier-Palmieri
Johansson-Zajac-Bratt
Wood-Coleman-Anderson
Boyle-Seney-Noesen

Dea will be in there unfortunately but that's what I'd try at least

Hynes should leave a note telling the guys to handle practice themselves tomorrow. If they don’t want to show up then he doesn’t have to either

Hynes can’t be fired. You can’t have a nothing offseason and then go out and dump the coach 15 games into the season.

I actually like this idea, honestly. I don’t think it’s realistic but I wonder how it would be received at the pro level from both the players and the media.

Weee bit of a talent gap in rosters though. Firing Q was stupid but completely different skill level between teams.

On a positive note, this shitty play brings my season estimate to two points from actual. :pacman:

October: Expected 2-7-0 (4 points); Actual 5-3-1 (11 points); variance +7 points
November to-date: Expected 3-0-1 (7 points); Actual 1-3-0 (2 points); variance -5 points
Season totals: Expected 5-7-1 (11 points); Actual 6-6-1 (13 points); variance +2 points

JQ isn't going to turn Zacha into a 30 goal scorer or fix our deficiencies in the defensive zone. Hynes seems like he wants it way more than some of the players on the team.

I don't know what hurts us more in the long run. Missing the playoffs by 3 points or just completely tanking for a top ten pick.

I'd love to add another center or defenseman but whats the sales pitch to Hall and possible Free Agents? Roll the dice?

the only real ufa to worry about this offseason is johansson. at this point, i'd be surprised if he wanted to come back. he's been injured, which has hurt his production, but he's also been given dick all to work with. going from one of the best offences in the league to this shit has to be frustrating for him. if i were him, i'd go to a young and upcoming team with a bunch a of young offensive players to support him. something like a winnipeg or a florida.

as for hall and vatanen, shero has this season and then a "show me" season to convince both hall and vatanen to come back. if i were them, i'd wait to see what happens next season before making a commitment to this team.

If I were Nashville, I'd call about Mojo. I'm not too worried if he leaves. We put him in positions to fail with the crap he plays with.

I mean, we have to do something in the summer. Another offseason of just signing a Gryba is unacceptable. Sure, some kids will get spots but this team needs some production and elite talent. Shift around one or two pieces on D and I think its improved, Upfront, I'd like to get someone who can actually hold down the 2C like a Pavelski but I don't see why he'd come here.

Johansson is a catch 22. He’s been dogshit since coming here but letting him walk makes the forward group even more thin. No idea what I’d want to do with him.

Hall and Vatanen I want back but I’ll wait until they sign before I pencil them in long term. Though that’s sacrilege around here.

Yeah the thing with Johansson is he’s best suited as a complementary forward in a good top six. He’s started producing a bit with better linemates but playing with Pavel Paajarvi-Svensson and Noesen/Dea earlier in the season didn’t do him any favors.

He’s a 35-50 point guy. We need those in a bad, bad way. I think Bratt is probably another one, so too is Zajac. Wood could be a consistent one someday but he’s still a cowboy

If he wants to stay and signs, that would be great because he does bring skill but he absolutely could use a crafty sniper and a power forward with skill and can skate to do some of the digging.
