This is bare minimum. But knowing Shero he'll fire Hynes and promote Nesreddine.

They need a good few Steven's eruptions (and a few good players.) This is deteriorating fast.

Everytime I turn these losers on, we are down by 3+ goals AND have given up 5 or more.

Im not in the fire Hynes crowd but this is down right pathetic.

But it's worth trying to get his offensive game improved in the long term or he's never going to be more than a 4th liner. But agreed he's a really good defensive center and was our second best guy on draws.

Yup. Zacha’s only way back from bust status is to rip it up in the A and not just helpers either. This season is toast..think long term. Also Yak looked good. Someone knee cap Lovejoy.

Also Greene is probably done now too. Vatenen passed him in the third stickhandling through 2 Jets and accelerated past Greene. Poor bastard is done and he probably knows it.

Imagine this defense with Santini over Lovejoy. Mueller over Greene and Yak (who knows what he is but he can skate) over Butcher. PP1 will suffer but the mobility on the backend gets exponentially better.

Get rid of Greene and Lovejoy then you can deal with Butchers mobility.

Perspective...stolen from Reddit

jets (2011 to 2015) have drafted NHL players: scheifele, trouba, morrissey, ehlers, connor, hellebyuck, lowry, copp, petan, and roslovic.

devils (2011 to 2015) have drafted NHL players: larsson, coleman, severson, kerfoot, wood, zacha, seney, santini

I think we're a good situation. I don't think we're as bad as our record indicates. We weren't as good as we were at 4-0, the answer is somewhere in between. Right now the team looks disinterested and they definitely aren't listening to the coach. That fool in the mean time is relying on his vets to pull them out, hence the Lovejoy disaster. You just CAN'T do that.

Right now the problems are Shero largely ignoring the defense and whiffing on first round choices. Vatanen is good, but he's not a #1, he's a great #3 and a good #2. Severson is a #3 or 4, Greene is a 6, Mueller is a 5 and Butcher is a 4. Lovejoy is AHL fodder and Yak is likely a #4, think Nikita Zaitsev. They need a #1 and that guy would slide everyone where they need to go, but you just don't get those guys.

And we all love Nico, and he's great and all, but you look at what Pettersson is doing and he's clearly the most talented in the draft. Good on Vancouver for getting fucked out of the top two and getting the best player in the draft.

If we actually wanted him, we would probably have to sell him on what we did last year as well as hype up Ty Smith as much as possible. Trotz took a huge rebuilding job in NYI so maybe Q would do it with us.

Nico is cool but not a star. We royally fucked up in 2015 by overachieving. We should have gotten Matthews or Laine. Picking 12th was a fucking disaster.

Pettersson's goal scoring isn't what makes him a star. He's just far more dynamic than Nico. That's not saying that Nico is a bad player, he's not a bad player at all. But Pettersson's next level good. Glad the Flyers didn't take him. Nico/Nolan was the debate, Pettersson even seemed like a reach to people when the Nucks made the trade.

We should have gotten Matthews but assholes like Stempniak, Schlemko, Farnham, Tootoo, and Kalinin had to overachieve. Schneider played incredible that year as well. It was so stupid.

I think he's absolutely a true #1 centre. I love the guy, I really do. He's not going to be a MASSIVE point producer, and Hynes is STILL under utilizing him. He needs to get better at draws and I think he will because he works hard but Pettersson is bettersson.
