MacArthur, it was just a matter of time until he scored against us.

4-3.

Can we ever hold a lead? Seriously. 3 or more goals against in what, 9 games now?

Here's an idea, change the powerplay up a little. Take Letang off and put Despres out there with Niskanen and try that.

Your powerplay is fine. All that quick movement is killing reimer. a little bad luck too, bit that is the tracking puck thing. He doesn't recover well cause he can't see what's happening fast enough.

We have horrible shooters on the point, Letang rarely ever gets the shot on net and when he does shoot he holds on too long and let's the defense and goaltender get in position for it.

But mainly it is that he isn't a quarterback. Gonchar was the qb. Letang a weapon.

Yeah, Niskanen has a good shot though but they keep putting Letang and Martin on the point, both good passers and good with puck possession. Nisky will shoot.

PK players know that Tanger and Martin don't have a good shot, so they pressure them. Niskanen will shoot, he doesn't give a fuck who is on the ice, if he sees a shot he takes it. Letang and Martin sometimes pass it off when they should shoot and it's annoying.

Martin is also not a qb. Letang CAN shoot. but he needs a pass first guy beside him who isn't Martin.

Letang gets the puck on net about as often as Phaneuf does. Great hard shot, but it's so wild, it'd probably injure one of the Pens guys rather than go in the net.

And of course, tied.

I love reading Hfboreds and seeing how people are dissing Letang for being an early Norris finalist candidate. He's earned it and he was on his way to giving Karlsson more of a run for his money last year as well before he got hurt. Letang was on a 70pt pace last season and was better defensively. This year, he's doing it all again and he's getting no credit.

But apparently OEL and Subban are? Lol.

I think the award is a joke because it's so stats based (last 4yrs or so, the 1st or 2nd point player on defense wins it, adds more validity to it, no?) but I know for players it means a lot and for Letang, it would put him in the "franchise defenseman" category, apparently another thing he's not, over there.

Susf...

Also apparently Jake Gardiner is a headcase and wants out because of his agent's tweet. Holy speculation batman, Jake isn't going anywhere.

[NHLCOM]catid=-6&id=219530[/NHLCOM]
Bylsma told me they want the players to do individual video study about every third game, but Letang does it every day. He sits down with assistant coach Todd Reirden, who works primarily with the defense, to study tape of himself or players he wants to emulate – like seven-time Norris Trophy winner Nicklas Lidstrom – to figure out ways to add to and improve his game.

“It’s either about my game or a collective game,” Letang explained. “Sometimes we watch other defensemen, the way they play. We try to pick different abilities that other defensemen have. Last year it was Nicklas Lidstrom, watching him, the way he walks the blue line. There’s so many different things you can learn. I think with doing a lot of video and practicing on the ice with the coach, it’s been pretty good.”

Though Letang is a frontrunner for the Norris Trophy, he would rather talk about team goals than individual ones. But when asked to evaluate what makes a defenseman a Norris Trophy winner, Letang again pointed to Lidstrom as the perfect model.

“He was a really good power-play guy, really good PK guy, 5-on-5 he was really calm with the puck,” Letang said. “He was passing the puck really well, waiting for opportunities to come to him. That’s the thing that we were looking at, the way he moves his feet, never got caught out of position. I think that’s what you have to look at on video to learn from those guys.”
