YOUR 2013 Columbus Blue Jackets

If the Cavs and the Indians can make it the the Finals ... nah, probably not.

Keeping in mind we're talking about the CBJ, so everything is relative ... he does so many things efficiently - he can play the PK or PP, bump up a line, etc.

IMO, he's one of the three or four stories behind the CBJ's improbable resurgence.

He was always a jack of all trades for forwards, his hockey IQ is very solid, he always seems to be in the right lanes to generate turnovers and take-aways. He has a very very underrated shot.

I didn't know he was doing as well as he was offensively until I just looked at his stats, nice to see him doing well there and getting that 2yr extension.

Well ... that's that. I don't see how the CBJ crack the top eight now, unless they're able to reel in Detroit. Fucking Blues with a three-point cushion, and still with two GIH.

Ken Hitchcock is still a sexy beast.

No doubt an expendable player for a team as stacked as the Pens. But vital to a team like the CBJ. Good guy to have around young players like Atkinson, Calvert and Johansen.

Read something today (Puck Daddy, perhaps?) about the CBJ nearly having had a deal in place, prior to season's start, for Nabokov? Hadn't heard anything about this.

Damned playoff race is exciting!

CBJ need 55 points - have to go 5-1, or 4-0-2. Deck stacked against them - least ROW, least games remaining, only one home game left. I don't see how they make it.

Hell of a season, however it turns out.

Mason looks really good with us so far. Seems really tuned in and aware. How much do you guys think a change of scenery was bound to help his game, or just boost it temporarily?

I think most of his problem in Columbus post-Calder was in his head. He found himself in the NHL with practically no professional career, and was an immediate success. I think he may have been surprised when he ran into issues the next season - with little help from the team in front of him.

I don't know that he was worth a third and Leighton at this time, but IMO there is still plenty of potential there, as he matures mentally.

I think the change in scenery will help.

Hopefully Bryz gets his head out of his ass or you guys bring in somebody who can actually challenge for the #1 spot. That didn't really happen in Columbus till this year. He actually played somewhat better this season, but obviously couldn't compete with Bob. In fairness to him, there aren't many who can right now.

I don't know if I'm happier to see Columbus in a playoff spot or Detroit out of the playoffs.

The truth is these are both somewhat mildly enjoyable things.

Yeah - I'm getting too old for this shit. Today was a bitch. Tomorrow will be hell.

Good game tonight, though. No quit in these guys - buzzing the entire third. Just not enough fire power. Awesome to watch after years of country-clubbing.

Seriously - was discussing this with a few co-workers today. One legitimate stinker - Minny - in the past twenty-five games. What more could CBJ fans ask for, from a team with no real fire power and a franchise with a history of underwhelming?

I declare this the Spring of George.

This is so alien - not just watching the CBJ in a playoff race, but seeing them holding a spot while not controlling their own fate.

Suddenly I have a bad feeling about their chances.

Even as good as they've played the last 20-some games, who would have thought they'd go 5-1 in a must-win six-game road trip?

Interesting how this has played out.

The CBJ had the toughest row to hoe closing out the season. Yet it comes down to the last day and they've got Nashville at home, while Detroit is in Dallas and Minny in Denver. Granted, Detroit and Minny only need to get to OT - but I still like the CBJ's chances, now.

Either, really - just want to see them rewarded for an improbable season. They probably line up better against the Ducks, but lost all four against Chicago before this turnaround.

Just read that they've sold 1500 SRO tickets for the game.

He was great. Definitely can't complain about his motivational skills given the way this team played down the stretch. The team definitely played a Lemaire-like style. I was worried about how much he was going to play some of the younger guys coming into the season given what happened with Johansen last season, but it turned out to be a non-issue.

Interesting to compare Zibinajabadadabad's goal that counted with any one of Calvert's that didn't - especially the one where he was hauled down from behind.

Said it before, I'll say it again ...

I don't get the Gaborik deal. Brassard is picking up at MSG where he left off here. Moore will be a top-four D for years to come. And Dorsett was the guy keeping this bunch honest before everything came together.

All for Gaborik - a more enigmatic Nash, without the power forward game.

I understand wanting to demonstrate to the team before a tough closing stretch that you believe in them. But damn ...

I think keeping the team together would have been more a statement about believing in this team then the trade did.

Seeing Brassard putting up 2-3 points a night sucks. But before I start to really loathe this trade, I'd like to see what a healthy Gaborik can do for the first month or 2 of the season.

I haven't seen anything about this on the blogs - is this something being tossed around at HFBo?

I have not watched any Rangers playoff games as yet. Has Nash really been invisible, other than today's goal? I remember him being a shrinking violet against the Wings in 08/09 - and pretty much just going through the motions after that series.
