If any of you guys take a trip to Vegas, be careful driving outside of town in the desert.

Even our journeyman's journeyman is better than yours!
Carlos Torres throws 5 innings, gives up 5H (1 of which was really an error, not a hit), 0BB, 5K, and only 1R. Gets the no decision because the bullpen couldn't hold it but a great start nonetheless. Had been a starter in the minors but was placed into the bullpen for us until tonight, filling in for Harvey. Hasn't been stretched out in quite some time but stepped right up...looked as good as he did in the bullpen.

Dude I know our rotation sucks. Its the reason why we are below .500 this year. Bats are hot and cold but overall they can hit enough give us a clear lead over .500. I want to see a season when starting pitching isn't hurting. I'd be open to moving Burhle, Morrow and Johnson. In the coming years or so we should have Drabek, Hutchinson and Sanchez coming up. Will look a lot better.
Plus we still have Dustin McGowan.. the way he's pitching he'll be a starter sooner than later (hopefully next year haha!)
Matt Harvey with 2 shutout innings, 1 hit allowed and three strikeouts over 32 pitches.
NL lost 3-0. Pitchers to give up runs?
Corbin (Diamondbacks)
Lee (Phillies)
Kimbrel (Braves)
Any surprise that the Braves and Phillies helped f*** it up?? Absolutely not!
Only three hits by the NL batters - Wright, Goldschmidt (Diamondbacks), Beltran (Cardinals): one Met and one ex-Mets.
Should have just put out a Mets and ex-Mets roster if they were serious about home field advantage!

d'Arnaud cleared to play!! Syndergaard future MLB Cy Young winner and d'Arnaud the second coming of Mike Piazza. Please hand over all World Series trophies to the Mets, thanks.
And for the love of God, someone fix Brandon Nimmo ASAP. He's the pick right before Jose Fernandez -- either Fernandez needs to go down with a career ending injury or Nimmo needs to become an All-Star center fielder.

Listen, I think we need to remove the stigma of all bestiality is bad for the animal. Is it disgusting either way? Sure, but there's a pretty big difference between acts such as a woman lathering her vaginal lips with peanut butter and training a dog to lick her, and a man inserting his erection into an animal whose hole is smaller than the phallus. What bad comes to the dog? For that matter, if it was actually insertion, it's not like the animal cares where it's getting its jollies off of...one bint is the same as another even if it is cross-species. We should be concerned about disease, inhumane treatment and things of that nature, but there needs to be context. Labeling all things bestiality bad is just sad. So very sad. Also it's not like I'm posting this because the Mets are being blown out or anything.

This is Mets talk, not baseball talk. Get that filth out of here.

Well, if Andy Pettitte can still pitch, why not Giambi hit? I know Giambi is about a year older but pitchers typically fare worse with age than batters. PED galore.
Wheeler took a no-hitter into the 7th, which happens to be the 5th time that a Met has done so (and subsequently failed to get out of unscathed) this year. Three times by Harvey, once by Gee, and tonight by Wheeler. Unfortunately he gave up a walk and three straight hits...slowing down significantly at the end despite ending up with only 87 pitches overall...which resulted in a 2-2 tied game.
Mets could have still have gotten him a win potentially when they subsequently got a leadoff triple in the next half inning, but, well, it's the Mets so they didn't. Looks like we'll win anyway, took a 4-2 lead in the top of the 10th.

let's gloss over this fascinating soliloquy on snoreball and discuss the state of the upcoming NFL season. Make predictions and all general dick-measuring here.
Patriots
Bills (WC#2)
Dolphins
Jets
Bengals
Ravens (WC#1)
Steelers
Browns
Texans
Colts
Titans
Jags
Broncos
Chiefs
Sparklers
Raiders
Cowboys
Redskins (WC#1)
Giants
JB's favorite team
Bears
Packers (WC#2)
Vikings
Lions
Falcons
Panthers
Saints
Bucs
9ers
Seahawks
Rams
Cards
Kaepernick MVP, Texans-Falcons Super Bowl
pretty similar to last year's results, but I don't see too much changing. I think the NFC is stronger than the AFC this year by a pretty big margin -- I can see the argument for two division winners in the AFC failing to break double digits while half the NFC does it.

There are going to be a couple of very good NFC teams on the outside looking in. You cannot say the same in the AFC.
'Skins
Giants
Cowboys
Eagles
That's how I see the NFC East going and then probably give the 2nd Wild card to either Seattle or NO. Other than that I think you're pretty bang on. Not sold on the Bills and wouldn't be surprised to see 3 from the AFC North get in. Colts were an anomaly last year and should fall back a bit so I don't see them making a realistic push. Everyone else in the AFC West besides Denver is a joke and the AFC South is just the worst division in football.

Seattle will make the playoffs with or without Harvin.
Wilmer Flores has more RBI than Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter combined.
Noah Syndergaard is now being called Syndergod within Mets fan circles...by all accounts he is the real deal.
Looking at a potential future starting rotation of:
Harvey-Wheeler-Syndergaard-Mejia-Niese
...discounting trades and other transactions.
That's not factoring Dillon Gee and Jeremy Hefner either. Hefner is now on the DL but earlier had been pitching like an ace after picking up additional velocity and originally being a journey man who started as an emergency call-up. Gee, barring the Phillies, has been an excellent 5th starter. Carlos Torres is slotted for the bullpen but was serviceable as a starter as well.
Juan Lagares might be the real deal at center field. Mets are trending up big time. There's some more pitching at the minors in Montero, Matz and other arms (including some for bullpen: Familia, Leathersich)

He's what, 24? Get it done now and look forward to 8-9 more years of Cy Young calibre pitching, don't know why he's taking a wait and see approach to it.

Surgery always has its risks. In these types of cases where the best doctors are on hand and there is so much attention, it has to be rare for mistakes or poor turnaround but it's not a guarantee. I think it'll take around 3 weeks to determine the extent of tearing -- it may very well be something that he could pitch with (see: news mentions - Wainwright & Oswalt).
Mets more or less want it done and have Harvey recover/return ASAP. Harvey on the other hand has to consider it carefully since it's his livelihood at stake, and he's going to be the determining factor.
